Obituary

Margaret Lucille Legere was born on June 21, 1924 and passed away peacefully with her three children at her side on December 28, 2014.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Barbara Legere, David Legere and Therese Legere; her four grandchildren David J. Legere, Danielle Legere, Keven Legere and Ryan Legere; and three great-children Wyatt Holstein and Alexa Holstein and Liara Legere, and also by her two sisters, Mary Barrett and Sister Margaret.

Margaret was born in Ilan, Minnesota, she spent her younger years growing up in Watertown, South Dakota, and moved to Redondo Beach when she was 18 years old.

Margaret met Gerald Legere on the job at Air Research during World War II. In 1956 they married and had three children. They moved to Mission Viejo in 1969. Gerry passed away from cancer in 1975 leaving Margaret to raise her to raise her children, ages 15, 12 and 10, on her own.

To make ends meet she took a part time job as a crossing guard and worked at that job for 30 years. She was loved by all the children she met and took a special interest in many of them. She would often run into children she'd cross when they were adults and they would always remember her.

Margaret was known for many things including her amazing green thumb and beautiful yard. She never met an animal that she didn't like and always had at least one dog, usually two or three. Aside from gardening, Margaret's hobbies were knitting, embroidering, and playing poker and Pinochle with her family. Margaret was also a hockey fan - her team is the Anaheim Ducks and she never missed watching a game with her family.

She also traveled to Ireland several times to visit her relatives and loved traveling to Mexico when she was younger.

Everyone that met Margaret was immediately drawn to her. She was kind, caring, generous and had a good sense of humor.

But her greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and always loved.
