Marilyn often recalled stories growing up on a farm in upstate New York.. While she was still young, the family relocated to Redondo Beach, Ca, living in tents until they proudly moved into the "house that Daddy built". After attending Redondo Union High School, she married her soulmate Arthur Smith on June 22, 1957. Raising their 2 sons in Torrance, the family was very active in the choir and other activities at North Redondo Chapel. Shortly after Arthur's retirement, Art and Marilyn moved to Laguna Niguel, where she remained after being widowed in 1998. Wanting to be closer to her sons, Marilyn moved to the Las Vegas area, until she lost her long battle with Alzheimer's.
Known for her passion of music, Marilyn loved to sing in church choirs and quartets, instilling that love to her sons providing piano lessons, which she immensely enjoyed. Her faith was always important to her, sharing that faith whenever possible. Being compassionate and caring, her laughter would fill a room.
