Mario Mederos was born on October 9, 1930 and passed away on January 11, 2017 at the age of 86 in Laguna Hills, California. He is survived by his wife Maria Mederos; his two daughters: Noemi Safai and Maritza Ylinen; his three grandchildren: Felix Del Prado, Eric Del Prado, and Bianca Safai; his great granddaughter Harper Del Prado; and several in-laws: Houman Safai, Kirk Ylinen, and Danyelle Del Prado.
Mario was born in Baez, Cuba to his parents Agueda and Epifanio and was one of six children. In 1953 he married Maria Mederos in Havana, Cuba. Their love and companionship would culminate in 63 years of marriage. They lived in Havana with their two children until 1968 when they left Cuba in search of a better future. They moved to Los Angeles where they lived for 38 years and raised their two daughters. Mario and Maria eventually moved to Laguna Hills, CA in 2006 to be closer to the family they loved so much.
Mario loved baseball, action movies, playing dominoes and poker, bowling, and being surrounded by loved ones. He could always be found in front of the television cheering on his favorite teams which included the Yankees, Dodgers, and Angels. During gatherings he was the Domino champion who taught preceding generations the art of the game. He had an infectious personality that made others instantly gravitate towards him. Mario was always smiling and found happiness in making others laugh with his wonderful sense of humor and endless knowledge of clever Cuban sayings. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly and remember him with fond memories.
Everyone is invited to his Celebration of Life on January 29th, 2017 where his life will be remembered with joyful memories.
