Obituary

Marion Adams Robinson, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, November 17, 2022, in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, at age 90.

Marion was born in 1931 and raised in Layton, Utah, the daughter of Golden Marion Adams and LaVerde Evans, the youngest of four children. After her mother passed, her father married Athleen Revoir. Marion graduated from Davis High School in 1949, where she was a class officer. She graduated from University of Utah, where she fell in love with and married Stephen Lamond Robinson in 1952 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Steve was the love of her life. They were married 65 years. After Steve was commissioned an officer of the US Navy during the Korean War, they lived in Long Beach California, and later Bremerhaven, Germany, where their twin sons Jeffrey Adams and Gregory Evans were born. Shortly after returning to the United States, her third son Brent William was born. Marion and Steve later made their home in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, where they raised their family and lived for over 50 years.

Marion was a loving wife, mother, elementary schoolteacher, lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ardent follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ, and friend to many.  She gave countless hours of volunteer service over the years, serving in PTA, at election polls, the public library, and with her husband Steve on rock art archeology projects in the Southern Utah desert.  She served others at the local ward and stake levels of her church, as a primary teacher, young women leader, seminary teacher, relief society leader, and temple worker. With Steve, she served a mission to French-speaking Martinique Island, in the Caribbean. She was a lifelong Democrat, and was sorely disappointed that she did not live to see a woman elected as U.S. President.

Marion supported her three sons and husband in their many activities, including camping and backpacking. After her sons left home, she began running with Steve, and completed seven marathons, receiving awards for being a top finisher. She traveled widely with Steve, exploring the desert Southwest and touring in Europe, South America, and Asia. She was a talented and organized leader, homemaker, and friend. She exhibited remarkable courage and strength dealing with severe hearing loss in the last two decades of her life, and as a caregiver when her husband Steve, and later Brent, developed terminal illnesses. She loved everyone equally, and often told her extended family how happy they made her. Her favorite saying was to tell each of her sons, daughters in law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: "You are my favorite!"

Marion was preceded in death by her husband Steve, and her son Brent (Debbie), her two sisters (Elaine, Lois), and a nephew Clark Golden Adams, Jr. (Jill). She is survived by her brother Clark Golden Adams, Sr. (Barbara Jean), twin sons Jeff (Robyn) and Greg (Jillair), 12 grandchildren (11 spouses) and 21 great grandchildren, and multiple nieces, nephews and their families.

The family thanks Marion's daughter (in law) Debbie for the loving on-site care she provided during Marion's final illness, and all others who helped Marion.
