Mary L. (Villalpando) Anderson
August 23, 1943 – January 23, 2020

Mary passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 23, 2020.She was born August 23, 1943 to Teresa and Jesus Villalpando in Guadalajara, Mexico, the oldest of six children.Mary grew up in West Los Angeles, CA where she graduated from Venice High School.She married Richard C. Anderson on January 15, 1966 and they recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.Mary and Rick had three daughters and moved from Culver City to Laguna Hills in 1972 to raise their family.Mary joined St. Nicholas Church and volunteered for over 45 years in a variety of roles. She taught religious education, participated in several service groups, organized fundraising events, was involved in several ministries, was a lector and served as a Eucharistic Minister.She worked 22 years at the Diocese of Orange in the Religious Education and Youth and Young Adult Ministry departments.Mary was very devoted to her faith and her church community.In her spare time, she loved to travel, cook, craft, shop, host parties, study theology and most of all spend time with her family and friends.She will be remembered fondly as a wife, mother, sister, aunt and "Wa".
Mary is survived by her husband Rick Anderson, her daughters Leticia (Jason) Babiar, Carolyn Anderson and Erin Anderson, her 4 grandchildren, Thommy, Soren, Corrinne and Shaine, and her siblings Sylvia (Rory) McLeod, John (Maria) Villalpando and James (Gloria) Villalpando, as well as many nieces and nephews and their children. She is preceded in death by her parents Teresa (Maras) Villalpando and Jesus Villalpando, her sister Susana Zaccagnino and her brother Jesse Villalpando.
A Rosary and Vigil Service will be held Thursday, January 30, 2020, 7:00pm at McCormick and Son Mortuary in Laguna Hills. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 at St. Nicholas Church in Laguna Woods, CA at 9:00am.
