Mary Evelyn Bridges (O'Daniel) born on January 28, 1924 passed away peacefully March 20, 2014, at the age of 90 in San Juan Capistrano. She is survived by her sons, Loren B Laridon Jr, San Clemente and Micheal Laridon, Bisbee, Arizona and daughter Marcia DeSimone, Littleton, Colorado. Another son Stephen Laridon, died in 1989. She was blessed with seven Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. Still living are two brothers; Tom O'Daniel, Evansville, IN and Maury O'Daniel, Ft Wayne, IN and many, many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was born in Waverly, Kentucky the sixth child of ten children of John O'Daniel and Elizabeth Hancock. The family settled in Evansville, Indiana and Elizabeth was left to raise the ten children by herself after husband John died shortly after the last child was born. It was the height of the Great Depression and times were hard. The O'Daniel household survived and eventually thrived. Evelyn always looked back with fond loving memories of those chaotic times and the strength of her mother Elizabeth to keep everybody together.
Evelyn attended Memorial High School where she loved to dance. During a dance in Evansville, she met and soon married Loren B Laridon, a new Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp in San Antonio, Texas. Thereafter followed 17 busy years of crisscrossing the country to 12 different homes including three years in Oahu, Hawaii and raising four children as an Air Force wife.
Evelyn started over again in 1962 and found work as a book keeper for a construction company in Santa Maria and soon moved to Long Beach, California. She met and married Glenn Bridges and started her life long passion of buying and selling houses. She continued to work and ended her career at Fluor where she was an Accounts Payable Supervisor. Glenn had died and Evelyn retired and moved to Lake Forest, California.
There she loved the busy social life on the lake with many fun friends in her Mustang convertible, traveled and continued in real estate. In 2010 Evelyn moved to assisted living in San Juan Capistrano. Evelyn left specific instructions and did not want a memorial. Her son and daughter want to thank the wonderful people at Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing at Emeritus in San Juan Capistrano who loving cared for Evelyn for the past four years. Remember Evelyn as a person that lived life fully.
