Announcing "Beautiful" Mary Carmen Jones passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 7:50AM in MemorialCare Saddleback Hospital (intensive care unit) in Laguna Hills, California. A blessed peaceful passing of pneumonia and lung failure. Born on October 20, 1928 in Memphis, Tennessee, to proud parents John and Teresa Moss. "Carmen's sibling were Sarah (daughter Rita Sue), Jean  (daughter Terry), and Bucky (son Greg). On to Denver attending catholic grade school, next Los Angeles in a girls catholic high school.

At 15, Carmen married Claude Makin, a naval officer and blimp pilot. Orders to Tom's River, Boston, Key West, Oakland, with 27 years of service retired at NAS Dallas in 1968. Returned to California with all 4 children – Claude Jr. (born Jan. 1946), Steve (Mar. 1949), Linda (Aug, 1954), and Sandra Jo (Nov. 1958). Her 5th child was her mother, Teresa.

There are 8 grandchildren – Claude & Sherrie (kids -Matt and Mike), Steve & Cathy (kids – Giselle, Genevieve, and Mark), Linda & David (kids – Linda Jo (passed), Claudia, and Christopher).

There are 12 great grandchildren – Matt & Devin (kids – Skylar, Alexis and Dylan). Genevieve (kids – Anthony, Jayla, DeAndre), Linda Jo (child – Christina), Claudia & Mark (kids – Anthony and Ace), Christopher (kids – C.J., Isabella, and Caleb).

There are 4 great great grandchildren – DeAndre & Arerea (kids – Capri and Cairo), Christina & Keala (kids – Keala Jr. and Eilana).

Sandra Jo and Mike are happily single!

Carmen was a devoted homemaker and Max Factor makeup artist at MCAS El Toro. Divorced in 1973, remarried Ron Jones, has pretty Blue Jay/Lake Forest homes, educated Jo and traveled. Separation in 1983, divorced 1989. A generous heart and soul!

What a "wonderful" 96 years, filled with love, faith, family, fashion, home and travel. Best retirement ever! Always on cruise adventures with Jo. Best friends forever, Carmen and Jo, in home 52 years, together 66! Mama had an extraordinary journey! Amen!

Carmen's funeral mass will be on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11:00AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Woods, CA. She will be laid to rest following mass at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, CA.
