Obituary

Melchizedek Phillips resided in Hemet, California. Riverside County. He was 70 years old at the time of death. Mel passed away on December 26, 2023. Mel was born June 17, 1953 in Seattle, King County, Washington. He has joined in Heaven his two beautiful parents; Rev. Sam Sylvester Phillips and Edna Willis Thomas Phillips.

Mel will always be loved by Belinda and Orlando whom he lived with for over 30 years and  I'm sure he'll be missed by all family members, friends, and co-workers.  I never had the privilege to meet his extended family, but I'm sure they are beautiful people.

Mel loved to listen to smooth jazz, go shopping, clean his cars, walk his dog, and mingle with people. He took great pride in his appearance and always looked sharp everyday. He always took pride encouraging others no matter what he was going through. Mel displayed a very spiritual, unselfish demeanor when helping others. Mel made it his business to see everyone else happy instead of himself. That's the type of heart Mel had.

Mel worked as a Mortuary Transport Technician for Traditional Funeral Services and other Mortuary Companies for approximately 14 years. He took great pride and dignity in servicing families with acts of kindness by offering flowers and flags commemorating veterans with music from his speakers in his van to help families have a lasting memory of their loved ones. Mel always expressed a touch of class on every call. If you knew Mel, you would agree he was undeniably unique.

Mel had a great sense of humor. He was always smiling, happy, and full of energy. He was always high-spirited and full of life. Mel was a good Christian who loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. He always prayed for people with sincerity. Mel also loved his animals. He liked playing and walking his dog Bugatti and loved Neysa who died October 2023. We will never forget you Mel, you have made a difference in everyone's heart on this journey of life. You will live on in our hearts forever.

I am grateful to everyone who contributed spiritual encouragement and moral support while working with Mel. I would especially like to thank Traditional Funeral Services for their time invested in Mel. Also, a special thanks to Michael, Erin, and Rebecca at McCormick and Son Mortuaries for their professionalism and heart-warming work. Many thanks to co-workers at the Orange County Sheriff's Department as well. Everyone is greatly appreciated.

Psalms 61 (1- 5)

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth, I call to you,

I call as my heart grows faint;

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For you have been my refuge,

A strong tower against the foe.

I long to dwell in your tent forever

And take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
