Obituary

Michael John Foster, born in December, 1942, passed away on March 24, 2026, at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, love, and quiet strength that touched all who knew him. He was the beloved son of Frieda and Louis Foster and the fourth of eight children, growing up in a close-knit family that helped shape his lifelong values of loyalty, responsibility, and care for others. Among his siblings, his brother Larry was not only family but also a great friend, sharing a bond that endured throughout their lives.

Michael graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1961, marking the beginning of a life defined by commitment and perseverance. At just 18 years old, he began a remarkable career in the telecommunications industry with Bell Telephone. Over the next 50 years, he continued his work through various telecommunications companies, demonstrating both dedication and adaptability as the industry evolved. He took pride in his work and was known for his acute sense of detail.

In 1964, Michael married Mary Ann Weber, in a ceremony officiated by Father George at St. Eugene’s Church in Los Angeles, California. He was a loving husband for over 62 years, a devoted father, and steadfast provider for his family, always placing their needs above his own. His life was a reflection of commitment, not only to his work but, more importantly, to those he loved.

Michael was also known for his generosity and willingness to lend a hand. He was quick to help friends and relatives in need, never hesitating to offer his time, skills, or support. Whether tackling a home improvement project or working in the yard, he found satisfaction in caring for his home and helping others do the same.

He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and was an enthusiastic motorhome traveler. He especially loved visiting places like Yosemite, Yellowstone, Banff, and the coasts of Oregon and California. His favorite destination, however, was Jalama Beach, where he enjoyed surf fishing alongside one of his best friends, Bill Henry—moments that brought him great joy and lasting memories.

Michael was a Los Angeles Dodgers fan and loved the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing with family and friends. He enjoyed cars and also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs who brought him companionship and happiness over the years.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, their two children, Monica and Kevin, and two grandchildren Anna and Kayla.

Michael John Foster will be remembered for his reliability, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. His legacy of love, hard work, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to FAM in Michael’s honor.
