IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Milton Earl
Naylor
August 21, 1938 – July 24, 2022
Milton Earl Naylor was born in Phoenix, Arizona on August 21, 1938 and passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022 at Mission Providence Hospital. He was the loving son of Anna Ione and William Steven Naylor and was raised in a close-knit, loving family with five brothers, sisters and a host of friends who considered the Naylor home their second home. He graduated from West Phoenix High School as Senior Class President, excelling in both academics and sports. Milt lettered in Baseball, Basketball, Track and Football and set several athletic records which were never broken, up until the time the school was closed in 1983.
Upon high school graduation, the San Francisco Giants baseball organization extended an offer to draft Milt to their farm club, but he declined in favor of a college education. He enrolled at the University of Colorado, with a four year ROTC scholarship, where he pledged Alpha Tau Omega, and transferred to the University of Arizona after his first year. Milt played football for the U of A as a halfback and met several friends who, along with dear friends from childhood, would become lifelong. Milt graduated in 1961 from the U of A with a degree in electrical engineering.
After proudly fulfilling his military duties, first with the Navy and then the Army, Milt settled in Long Beach, California, having been introduced to the attractive beach lifestyle on his military travels. Milt's professional career began at Hughes Aircraft as an aerospace engineer, and it was there he met his beautiful wife of 35 years, Annette. After Milt and Annette married, daughter Joanna was born and they relocated to San Mateo briefly before moving back down to Southern California and Laguna Beach where daughter Andrea was born. It was in Laguna where Milt discovered his love for real estate.
With his quick business mind and friendly, outgoing personality, Milt realized he had found his true professional calling, and joined Tom Lingo at Lingo Real Estate. Milt would eventually purchase Lingo RE and expand its locations before selling to Grubb & Ellis, staying on as President and managing its Orange County and Northern San Diego residential offices. Milt also owned Laguna Escrow and managed Grubb & Ellis Mortgage. While at G&E, Milt formalized the marketing provided to his agents, and founded Impact Marketing Specialists. Joanna and Andrea helped their father as early employees, building the business into a successful entity and what would ultimately become Milt's sole professional focus for the next 20 years.
Though Milt was always a hardworking and accomplished businessman, his heart was reserved for his daughters, grandchildren, his family, friends and dogs. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren excel in sports, and the circle was completed when Milt was inducted into the Phoenix Union Sports Hall of Fame.
The community of Three Arch Bay, and Laguna Beach were the backdrops for so many important personal and professional moments in Milt's life, and provided a vast catalog of happy memories, easily accessible and frequently recounted. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity and happiness that touched so many lives. He will be sorely missed.
Milt is survived by his two daughters, Joanna Naylor and Andrea Naylor Scampini, their husbands David Labriola and Michael Scampini, and his four grandchildren whom he loved very much, Alex, Kate, Alexa and Jack. Milt is also survived by his sisters Eloise and Sharon and brother Gary (wife, Jean) as well as his former wife Annette (husband, Stephen). He is predeceased by his brothers Robert and Albert, brothers-in-law Edwin and David, sister-in-law Sue and nephews Brynn and Jack. Milt is also survived by many other wonderful family members who loved him deeply.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate a gift to the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach. Please visit www.bgclagunabeach.org to find out more how this amazing organization helps young people in our area, and to donate.
