Obituary

Nancy was born on May 13, 1953 in Montclair, New Jersey and passed away on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2015 at her home in Laguna Niguel, California.

Nancy was the beloved wife of 36 years of Stephen Anthony McGlinn. She was the daughter of Eleanor Corwin Park of Upper Montclair, N.J. and the late John Park, sister of Patricia Park Connell and Robert W. Park and his wife Melissa. Kristi Alexandra Park, Samantha Elizabeth Park and James Patrick Connell loved to spend time with their favorite Aunt Nancy. She was the great niece of her dear Aunt Dotte.

Nancy was equally close to her in-laws including her mother-in-law, Lucie DiNorscia McGlinn and her late father-in-law, Jimmy McGlinn. Steve's siblings and their spouses include Mary McGlinn Dennis and Bob, Cecilia McGlinn Darrow and Nick, John and Nadja McGlinn, and the late Fran McGlinn and Rhonda. She loved the big Italian family get-togethers that included six nieces and nephews – John Huston, Montana, Lucia, Nick, Sean, Natasha and the latest addition to the family, great nephew Houston. When they were first married Nancy traveled to visit Steve's grandmother in her Pennsylania kitchen to learn the secrets of the traditional tomato sauce first hand!

Nancy had a wide circle of friends on both coasts and was always eager to entertain them or make plans together.

Nancy was a graduate of Montclair High School and the University of Denver where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Steve and Nancy fell in love while they were both in college in Colorado and continued to date until they married in 1979. Shortly after they started to date, she confided to her sister, "This is the man I am going to marry!" They shared much love and laughter for almost 40 years. They also shared a love of tennis, skiing, long walks on the beach and travel around the world from Italian villas to Greek cruises to Wimbledon to skiing in Switzerland, exploring business opportunities in China and much more. As recently as this past January they were skiing in Deer Valley and enjoyed last Christmas in N.Y. seeing shows and visiting family and friends.

They loved spending time at the home built in 1979 by Nancy's parents in New Hampshire near Dartmouth College. Her father Jack was a member of the Class of 1948 and Nancy and Steve had fun attending many of the mini-Dartmouth reunions with her parents.

Nancy was senior vice president of merchandise at Alcone, a global sales promotion company, before her creative spirit inspired her to go out on her own and form her own certified woman's owned merchandise company, Zauwie, in 2005.

Nancy's paternal grandfather, better known as Pop-pop, coined the term. Whenever he got excited he used to say to her "Zauwie Honey, that's a great idea!" It was a natural choice for her to brand her new company with this unique term that defined the innovative solutions she brought to her clients. Clients echoed the sentiment of Zauwie, loved her creative projects and loved working with Nancy.

She led the development and overall account management of catalog and premium programs for her clients such as eBay, Jeep, IHOP, Toyota, Chrysler, Dodge, Mitsubishi, Kia, BAX Global, Unilever, Starz Encore, California State Lottery and Pernod Ricard USA along with a number of other clients. Her experience included trips overseas, including to China, to oversee custom programs for clients as well as source new product opportunities.

Nancy was so loved by family and friends and will be sadly missed. She was effervescent and beautiful, inside and out. She passed away on Palm Sunday morning surrounded by Steve, her mother and sister at her bedside. Shortly thereafter, as the news spread, one of her friends called to tell Steve that the name Nancy means grace and that there is a beautiful type of rose named Nancy. That seemed so very fitting for our beloved Nancy.

Her memorial service will be celebrated in the old Irish tradition of a month's mind on Wednesday, April 29th at 4:00 p.m. The Most Reverend Bishop Lawrence Eugene Brandt, a close family friend, will co-officiate the service with the Reverend Monsignor John Urell at Saint Timothy Catholic Church.

There will also be a special service held in Nancy's memory on the east coast on Saturday, May 30th at 1:30 p.m. at the Union Congregational Church in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. It will be officiated by the Reverend Bill Lutz who married Nancy and Steve in that same church on July 21, 1979, and where they were blessed with a love that was truly happily ever after.
