IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Kathryn
Wager
May 18, 1949 – September 24, 2025
Longtime Chevrolet Trackside Communications Representative, Nancy Wager, passed away on September 23, 2025 after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
Nancy was an integral part of the General Motors/Chevrolet Motorsports Trackside Communications team beginning in 1995 when she built both the off-road truck racing and stadium truck racing trackside public relations programs with GM/Chevrolet and driver Jimmie Johnson.
Her journey with Chevrolet continued as the NASCAR Busch/Nationwide Manufacturer Trackside Communications representative until 2001 when she assumed the reins of the Chevrolet Trackside Communications Representative role in the NASCAR Cup Series.
In 2007, Nancy joined forces with fellow Chevrolet Trackside Representatives Sam Brown and Judy Kouba Dominick to form Inside Track Communications where she remained as the lead on the NASCAR Cup program until she retired from "active" trackside duty in 2021.
Prior to joining the GM/Chevrolet family, Nancy represented many high-profile clients including Chrysler/Jeep & Dodge Motorsports, Adolph Coors Company, Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group, American Motorcyclist Association, Laguna Seca Raceway among others in a variety of motorsports events including motocross, supercross, Baja 1000, Pike's Peak International Hill Climb, motorcycle road racing-and a continuing list of events that grew her skills as an event planner and implementor, as well as developing life-long relationships with media member, drivers, team owners and public relations professionals in every form of motorsports.
Born Nancy Kathryn Morris in the San Fernando Valley as the eldest of two daughters to Jack and Jean Morris, Nancy attended Los Angeles then Ventura College as she established herself in Southern California.
Her first introduction to motorsports came by way of Saddleback Motorsports Park selling tickets. She built on that to work with and promote some of the biggest stars in motorsports.
Nancy met husband Steve Wager in the early 1980s and married in 1983 in Hawaii. The couple eventually relocated to the Tampa area where they lived until Steve's passing in 2003. Nancy moved to Cary, North Carolina in 2006 until returning to her beloved Laguna Niguel in 2022.
Nancy is proceeded in death by her parents Jack and Jean Morris, her husband Steve Wager and brother-in-law Kent Wager. She is survived by sister Tammy Morris Lutz (Laguna Niguel, CA) and sister-in-law, Shari Wager Barley (Nevada City, CA).
