Obituary

Nancy passed away March 25, 2026 at the young age of 87 at Memorial Care Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills, Ca. of Acute Respiratory Failure/malignant neoplasm of the left lung. Nancy was a long time resident in Orange County California at the time of her passing.

Nancy was the first Born to Harold and Edith Froyd, Born October 2,1938, in Pasadena, CA. She is survived by her three siblings: Brother, Stanley Froyd, and sisters (twins), Sharon Froyd and Sherrill Froyd-Paulus.

When Nancy was about 15 years old, she was not one to sit around. Nancy soon got a job working for the Union Pacific Railroad, where her father also worked and where she met her lifelong friend Tillie, and her first husband Warren Gene Gallamore (Deceased).

Nancy’s family began on August 10th, 1961, when their first daughter Stacy Jean came into the world. Stacy was the first grandchild in the family! As the first grandchild, Stacy was also the first child to try to say the word, Grandma. Ultimately, coming out “Gaga” we all learned to say “Gaga”, and we still use “Gaga” with all the other babies, after 60 years!

A few years later Nancy’s second daughter Beth Anne Gallamore was born. Beth was born April 5th, 1966. They now lived in a larger home in Los Alamitos (Rossmoor). They purchased their first little trailer a few years after that so the family could go on yearly camping trips as a family unit and to broaden their girls' knowledge of life different from their own. One trip in particular stood out. They didn't even make it to Riverside and the air-conditioning went out on the car, Scorching hot they drive through New Mexico and realize Beth has chickenpox and can't stop scratching. They had taken the Rio Grand Train in Colorado where Gene got a piece of metal in his eye and had to call an ophthalmologist on the 4th of July week-end in po-dunk USA to remove it. They saw the Pueblo cliff dwellings in Colorado where Stacy had the worst kind of flu. All in the small hot, (not self contained trailer), all a mess except Nancy. Luckily not all the trips were like that one.

Nancy and Gene divorced several years later and Nancy and her girls stayed in Rossmoor. Soon Nancy met her life partner and love of her life Ralph (Knobby) Walsh.

Nancy was now working for the Hertz Corporation, inevitably becoming station manager at John Wayne Airport in Orange County Ca. Nancy gave her life to that company, their clients and everyone she hired. After what seemed like decades she was promoted to her own locations near LAX. She worked tirelessly for several more years at her hotel locations. The last station she worked was for a friend of hers and it was quite a daily drive everyday from Dana Point to Torrance and back. Hertz honored her with several awards over the years for all her dedication and hard work.

In April of 1988 Nancy’s Daughter Stacy Married Thomas Schumacher (Deceased) and to those parents, Nancy’s first Grandchild Amber Schumacher was born. Nancy and Knobby spent a lot of time with their grandchild in her early years while mom worked. They taught her to swim, and took her to Mammoth. Their little pride and joy. As the years grew, so did the distance between Nancy and her Daughter and her Granddaughter. Her granddaughter was strong willed like Nancy putting herself through school and working 2 jobs. Bought and sold property and cars before she was 23. Always focused on the future. Always busy. Nancy was always so proud of Amber. She was so happy Amber was independent and self-reliant but she missed her.

Nancy and Knobby Walsh were married at their favorite establishment the Hacienda on Valentines Day, February 14th,1993. Nancy picked that day in hopes her husband would always remember their anniversary and he did. Stacy always wanted a brother and when Nancy and Knobby married she got her wish. Their family grew with the addition of Knobby’s sons: Mark (deceased) Bruce and Steve Walsh. Bruce and his wife Veronica added 4 wonderful grandchildren to the family; Rick, Paul, Dominique, and Cassandra, and 3 Great Grandchildren: Makayla, Mason and Roam Louise. Nancy got to meet Kevin and his family which was a wonderful surprise addition. Nancy spoke of how fond she was of Cassandra frequently in the last couple years.

Nancy’s birth family, the Froyd’s, have been able to share a lot of time together over the years due to their love of travel and all things that are family oriented. In particular, her brother, Stanley Froyd and his wife, Ellen. Their Daughter, Cynthia and her husband, Iain , and their son and Daughter, Aidan and Ellen , now live and work in Wales. Nancy and Knobby would visit the family in Wales, They met for the Olympics in London, and Nancy was so proud of her niece Cindy graduating from the University of Cambridge. There was no way she was going to miss that.

Nancy’s sisters, Sharon and Sherrill, would get together with Nancy for lunch on the pier at San Clemente. Nancy’s sister Sherrill called her every evening at the same time. I know this was the highlight of her day. She was also so happy when her Daughter Stacy came by and called. Sherrill and Sharon would visit Nancy and pick her up and take her to whatever restaurant, in whatever city for food she desired that day, or the three would just play cards. When Nancy was young, she liked to play Poker with her dad. Their dad lived in Las Vegas while working for the Union Pacific Railroad, and that’s where the enjoyment of playing poker came from.

Nancy loved her sister Sharon, (the quieter of her twin sisters) Sharon spoke of the job that made her happiest and the most content was her position as Executive Secretary at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft from 1978-1994. Sharon moved to Arizona in1995, and then moved back to California in 2003 to be near her family.

Nancy’s sister Sherrill is happily married to Urb Paulus. They met after Sherrill's 17th birthday, and he was 18 at the time. There was always something special between them. Time and life moved on, but his family never moved far away. In 1999, Sherrill was going to visit Urban’s ill brother in Glendora and Urban was there, as if no time had passed. They were married in 2000. Sherrill had jobs that she enjoyed, but raising her children was her priority.

Sherrill's Daughter Crista went to the University of Southern California (USC) and after the end of her first week she called and said, "I love it here and I’m never coming home!” And she never did. But Crista made a wonderful life for herself with an exciting job that sends her all over the world where she makes friends from all cultures.

Nancy’s nieces and nephews, Sherrill’s Children are; Crista, Brian, and Steve.

But the two places Nancy loved the most were their Mammoth home which is where they spoke of retiring, but chose instead to stay close to their kids. Mammoth was their greatest week-end home away from home. They truly enjoyed the Family gatherings in Mammoth. Snow clothes, fireplace. Nancy and knobby cross country skied. Stan and his crew were avid downhill skiers and the smaller kids rode the innertubes. Those were some of her greatest times.

The other was the whole family's annual Labor Day trip to “Campland On The Bay”” in San Diego, Ca. On the first day of reservations, Nancy was the first in line. Every year she got the best space! By the water, where you could see fireworks at night and a close jaunt to the beach and daily activities. We spent a few days enjoying our families. The sun, the fire ring at night where we melted the soles of our shoes and burnt marshmallows, and the infamous game of all our games ever played was the game, OUTBURST!ll We all have that great memory, Loud and laughing,

In Nancy’s final part of her life she worried about Stacy's friend Teri Johnson who used to visit with her when she was able. Worried about her daughter Stacy and her step-granddaughter Cassandra. Nancy wanted another dog or cat after her love, Travis (black lab) passed away. But was worried she would leave a pet behind. Nancy was truly blessed with her caretaker Jenny Curtis and Caretaker Marcie Gomar. Marcie was more than an employee, she was a great companion, Nancy loved to watch her birds on her patio. Marcie always made sure the birdfeeder was full and chased away the squirrels that would try to steal the food. They watched Nancy’ favorite Dateline and 20/20 together and went shopping. She and Nancy played Rummicube and loved it. Sometimes her good friend Judy Buckley and her husband would come over and join in. Nancy will miss her great, great long time friends, Tillie, and Pat Heynen. Nancy spent a lot of weekends when her girls were little playing pinochle with her friend Pat Heynen and her husband while her girls played with Pat’s children Tracy and Jimmy Heynen. Funny super 8 movies of everyone in big bear. She will miss her wonderful friends Lydia Timmerman and Judy Buckley and her husband and all the great snacks and good friends in her Bunko group.
