Dr. Nasser Karam Antonious was born on October 4, 1957 in Cairo, Egypt and passed away on May 16, 2021 in San Jose, California at the age of 63. In 1980 Nasser graduated from the Alexandria Dental School in Egypt with his Degree and obtained his California Dental License in 1989. His life's passion materialized when he came to America and settled in San Jose where he started his own practice, Sunnyvale Dental Care. For the next three decades he devoted himself to building a place that every patient trusted and every peer respected. He was an active member of The Santa Clara Dental Society, The California Dental Association, The American Dental Association, and The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He sought out employees who felt like family and made sure his office always felt more like a home than a "workplace." At Sunnyvale, caring for people in need was one of his greatest passions. Nasser loved to open your mouth, look at your teeth, and poke around to make sure everything was in order. He loved his patients and his patients loved him. As a man who upheld quality, he expected the best from all those around him, especially himself. This standard of excellence stemmed from the very core of who he was; compassionate, intelligent, and generous. These intense levels of commitment were not only abundantin his professional life, but his personal one as well.


Nasser had a zest for life and constantly sought excitement and adventure on helicopter rides, going skydiving, snorkeling through clear waters, and never missing any of the sights wherever he traveled. As a young man, he enjoyed playing soccer and would always watch a match when it was on tv. He made sure to never miss an event, whether it be big or small. There was no distance too far and no plane flight too long to keep him away from sharing in these moments of life he knew were so precious. It was an honor for him just to be invited and share in these joys with the people he loved; whether it was their cherished wedding day, their latest birthday, or just a regular Friday. He knew that the most important thing to give someone was his time and Nasser never hesitated to donate his time and his love. His conversations were intentional and made every person he spoke with feel important because he would inevitably dive into deep and meaningful questions about their perspective on the very nature of humanity. He would pick apart your brain and always ask 'what do you think is the meaning of life?' so that he could over analyze your answer while coming up with three, even deeper follow up questions at the same time.


Being drawn to philosophy and storytelling, Nasser was a man of many words and deep feelings. And since he was so naturally inquisitive, Nasser had a passion for reading and writing as well. He spent countless hours translating his mother's diary so that every family member; from her own children, to her grandchildren, to her great grandchildren, and to all the generations that are yet to come could hear her words and understand her life a little more. Nasser was a devoted son to his mother, Adele Antonious, and to his father, Karam Antonious. He sat by his mother's side each time he visited so he could tease her and make her laugh. She loved listening to how much he had accomplished in his life and her eyes would light up with pride. Nasser was also the youngest of six siblings; Layla, Samiha, Agayeb, Treza and Moheb. His bond with his brother and sisters was unique, unbreakable, and one to be envied. From them, he gained wisdom, inspiration and a confidence he carried with him throughout his life and he loved to reflect on all the fond memories from his childhood spent with his family. As a beloved uncle, he also forged new, cherished memories with all of his nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, who loved him fiercely. He made each of them feel as though they were his own son or daughter.


Nasser was always ready with a joke, funny story, or silly antidote. He loved to laugh and to be laughed at. There was a continual sense of joy and comfort that he found in family, friends and coworkers. His boundless spirit filled every room he entered and he will always be remembered lovingly. He was a strong and opinionated man with a great attention to detail which could make it quite hard to change his mind at times. But it was this dedication, perseverance, and hard work that were also so inspiring. When he wanted something, he knew just how to get it and he never backed down. He always found more ways to share his gifts with the world and we all feel honored to have basked in its warming glow.


Dr. Nasser Karam Antonious will be laid to rest on Tuesday, May 25th, 2021 at El Toro Memorial Park at
10:30 am.
