Bertha was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 24, 1927, one of five children born to Frank Weeks and Nellie Marina Stoddard. She had two brothers, Fred and Joe, and two sisters, Louise and Frances. Bertha did not finish high school because she fell in love and married young. She married Sheldon Kingsley Bowling Jr on Oct 11, 1942, which after 19 years sadly ended in divorce on May 23, 1961. Her greatest heartbreak, however, was when her son, Daniel Lee Bowling, was killed in an accident at the age of just 33 years old, leaving a wife and 3 small children. Bertha then went to work for Torotel with the Aerospace, Defense, and Energy Industry and retired after 22 years as an Electronic Test Operator. During that time we were all so proud of her when she earned her GED on March 31, 1970. She married again on Dec 16, 1971, to Clement Hollie Webb, and after 30 years, she became a widow on April 12, 2001.
In November of 2004, Bertha recovered from a Stroke and agreed to move to California to live with her two daughters. The three of them joked about being like TV's Golden Girls. Her talents were knitting and crocheting. In fact she knitted blankets for her daughters and grandchildren, which are still being used and will continue to be passed on as part of her legacy. Her hobby was being an avid puzzle buff. She often framed them and gave them as gifts, which are still hanging on walls in California. Everyone that knew Bertha was well aware of her love for birds, butterflies, and flowers. She could hear a bird sing and tell you exactly what type of bird it was, and her eyes would light up like a child at their sight. Because of this her nickname was Berdie. She often spoke of how much she missed the plants and trees of Missouri, but she finally grew to love Palm Trees too.

Bertha was a simple person with simple needs and did not want a funeral. She was cremated and her ashes are being sent to Oak Grove, Missouri to be buried next to Clem.
In Ecclesiasties, the Bible tells us that there is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven. In the list of events it tells us there is a time to weep, and a time to laugh, A time to mourn, and a time to dance, a time to give birth, and a time to die. December 9, 2014 was Bertha's time. She was ready to go be with God and to have a big family reunion in Heaven. Let us celebrate her life and look forward to seeing her again one day.
