Noel Ray Hackworth was called home to our Lord Jesus Christ on May 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.He was born in Marshall, Missouri on September 8, 1934 to Mildred (Mom) and Wilburn (Dutch) Hackworth and was the oldest of three children.Noel is survived by his wife of 16 years, Violett Long of Laguna Beach ; son Dennis (Vickie) Hackworth of Scottsdale, Az; son Scott (Dona) Hackworth of Corona, Ca;daughter Susie (John) Narey of Brea, Ca; brother Tim (Karen) Hackworth of Colorado Springs, Co; brother Robert Hackworth of Huntington Beach, Ca; and many loving grandchildren, greatchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, MaryLou and daughter Lisa Hackworth.
Noel was a respected radio and television announcer for many years.He began his career working at various radio and television stations in the Midwest.Prior to his retirement Noel spent his last 20 years in the largest radio and television market in Los Angeles.Noel loved sports, coaching and announcing for his adopted Alma Mater Ocean View High School for over 30 years.He was inducted into the OVHS Hall of Fame and was a Seahawk for life.Noel's favorite hobby was admiring and collecting classic cars.He attended numerous car shows and auctions including several visits to the famous Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada.He could never get enough of those classic cars.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday May 28, at 5-6:30 pm, at McCormick and Son Mortuary, 1795 Laguna Canyon Rd in Laguna Beach.A graveside funeral service will take place on Wednesday morningMay 29, at 10:30, at Pacific View Cemetery, 3500 Pacific View Drive in Corona Del Mar.A reception will follow at Mariners Church, 5001 Newport Coast Drive in Irvine.The reception is located in the Life Development Building, Room 200.
