IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Olga Marie
Sturgeon
April 27, 1928 – November 2, 2025
Today, we come together with heavy hearts yet boundless love to celebrate the wonderful life of Olga Marie Sturgeon, our cherished matriarch, born on April 27, 1928, in Krummennaab, Bavaria, Germany, to her devoted parents, Martin and Maria Schreiber. Alongside her beloved siblings, Dorothy Watson and Rosemary Rein, Olga's early years blossomed with a move to Milwaukie, Oregon, where she grew up, attended school, and discovered her passion as a retail buyer for Meyer & Frank men's clothing. That journey took her across the country—to Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York—purchasing lines of clothing for all the stores, a testament to her tireless spirit and the warmth she brought to every place she touched.
Olga's heart found its truest home when she met her soulmate, Robert Sturgeon, at one of those stores. Their love story began, leading to a beautiful marriage on October 2, 1954, and the gift of three precious children: Robert Jr., Janette, and Jeanine. With her stepfather John Rein, who was a contractor, they built their first home with care, Olga and Bob wove a tapestry of joy together. They were avid league bowlers, their laughter echoing through the alleys, with Olga's radiant spirit always shining through as she claimed the top score. Every moment they shared was a treasure.
Bob's career in the Oil & Gas industry carried their family to Sacramento, CA for two years, and finally to Lake Forest in 1969, where Olga's heart continued to give. Her selfless soul volunteered at Saddleback Hospital and lit up the gift shop, where she forged deep friendships that warmed her days. A die-hard Lakers fan, Olga's love for basketball—rooting passionately for her team—filled her life with excitement and pride, a joy she shared with us all.
Olga leaves behind a legacy of love through her children Bob and his wife Joanie, Janette, Jeanine and her husband Skip, her four grandchildren Gavin, Jaclyn and her husband Jason, Ryan, and Ashley, and her five great-grandchildren Alessandra, Juliana, Logan, Katarina, and Moses. Each of us carries a piece of her gentle strength and boundless affection. Our matriarch, our guiding light, has left us, but her love will forever echo in our hearts. Rest in eternal peace, dear Olga—we will miss you more than words can express.
