Obituary

Patcharaporn Hwangsiri Nornberg, born January 5, 1972, in Bangkok, Thailand, peacefully passed away with her husband by her side Sunday evening October 12, 2025 at her home in Dana Point/Monarch Beach, California at the young age of 53.

Patcharaporn was lovingly known as "Pom" or "Patcha" by her friends and family, and more affectionately as "TenderPearl" by her surviving husband Michael D. Nornberg, Esq.  Pom is also survived by her mother Chuntipa "Aoi" Hwangsiri who resides in Bangkok.

Pom was a self-made woman who rose from humble beginnings in Thailand to becoming well-educated and having a successful corporate management career with numerous prestigious major international companies in Thailand by a young age.

Patcha attended several colleges and universities including Siam Business Commerce College (1987-1990 – major in Accounting/Hotel Management); Rajamangala Institute of Technology (1990-1992 – major in Tourism/Faculties of Tourism Industry); and Ramkhamhaeng University (1992-1996 – major in English Faculties of Humanities).

Patcharaporn succeeded in a somewhat predominately male-oriented business world, climbing the occupational ladder and breaking through glass ceilings.  Her petite, soft-spoken, and gentle nature was atypical.  Before moving to the United States, she last worked as a manager for Mouawad Jewelry in Bangkok, where she established a unique and close working relationship with Lebanese business magnate Robert Mouawad, one of diamond industry's most renown and worldwide acclaimed proprietors, and was personally entrusted with Mouawad's exquisite collection of family jewels and executive tasks.

After Pom met her husband, she eventually immigrated to the United States and was married at the Wat Thai Buddhist Temple in North Hollywood, California on December 5, 2008.  Robert Mouawad graciously paid for both Pom and her husband's wedding rings that were custom made by Mouawad Jewelry in Bangkok, even though he was sad to lose her exemplary services as an employee.  She became a U.S. Citizen on May 13, 2013.

Patcharaporn continued her professional career in Southern California, but eventually turned to her passion of preparing/indulging in culinary delights and began her final working chapter at Ichiburi Japanese Restaurant in Monarch Beach, where she became an admired and well-respected notable local waitress due to her happy nature, beautiful smile and precious demeanor while entertaining the guests around the teppan tables.  Pom was an incredible self-taught culinary chef and her husband always ate like a king during their entire near seventeen year marriage.

Pom was beloved by everyone who knew her due to her soft, gentle, kind, positive, polite, forgiving and always cheerful disposition.  She honored the elderly, and in particular her late grandmother Chaleow Sukphowom, who helped raise her and instilled conservative Buddhist values that Pom strictly adhered thereto.  Patcha further supported her mother with admirable dedication by providing her with a nice home and continued financial support back in Thailand. Patcha was exceptionally benevolent and spent much of her free time instilling her good values in children within her own family, friend's families and the community in general.

Patcharaporn's transition to heaven was facilitated by Leiomyosarcoma which is a very rare cancer affecting about a thousand people in the United States annually (1 in 100,000 people per year).  Patcha's strength, courage, and bravery was nothing short of extraordinary.  She never complained and managed the condition with astute dignity and grace.  Patcha accepted that the cancer tumor cells were part of and generated by her own body, so she prayed to those cells to peacefully leave instead of "fighting" with the cancer.  She was a loving and compassionate soul, always putting others before herself and chose to stay on this planet as long as she could knowing that her mother and husband were not ready nor prepared for her departure.

Hours before passing, Patcharaporn was baptized into the Catholic Church (by the grace of God acting through Father Mike Rizzo from St. Edward's Catholic Church Dana Point).  Patcha had already accepted Jesus while simultaneously maintaining her life-long commitment to her Buddhist beliefs.

TenderPearl truly touched the lives of so many people and she will be greatly missed.  Sawasdee ka (with respectful "wai" hand gesture).

Services are planned for Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm, November 15th at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point.  After the spiritual services, a dinner reception (Dutch treat) will be held at 4:00 pm at Ichiburi Japanese Restaurant, Monarch Bay Plaza, Dana Point, CA.  Colorful attire is acceptable.

In lieu of flowers to honor Patcharaporn, please consider making a cash donation instead via GoFundMe to help cover some of her mother's (Chuntipa "Aoi" Hwangsiri) living expenses while Chuntipa adjusts to the loss of her beautiful daughter.  See link below:
