Obituary

Patricia Ivy Howes of Laguna Woods, born in Middlesex, England on May 20, 1937, passed peacefully on October 15th, 2018 after battling Esophageal Cancer.She put up a strong fight.Patricia is survived by her three children Stephen (Barbara) Dark, Karen (Nolden) Bronkar and Jacqueline Dark.Also her Niece Leslie Besneatte and her family, each of whom she was extremely proud of.She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Rick (Mollie) McAnally, Steven McAnally, Adam (Carla) Vegvari, Shawnte (Joe) Piazza, Jennifer Dark (Andre Jones), and Cherise Dark, together with her nine great-grandchildren, Allison McAnally, Jackson McAnally, Macy McAnally, Steven McAnally, Lexi Vegvari, Stella Piazza, JJ Piazza, Tessa Piazza, and the youngest, Sage Jones who all knew and loved her as Nana, Gigi, and Grandma Pat.

Patricia spent her youth in London during World War II enduring the London blitz.She was married in 1957 to Richard Dark and emigrated with her baby son (Stephen Dark) to Canada in 1958 where she had two more children (Karen Patricia and Jacqueline Marie).Pat again emigrated to the United States with her family in 1964.

Pat worked for 14 years for Dr. Michael Jones at his Dental office in Laguna Niguel. She was the office manager, the Dental Assistant, handled the back office, and did everything else that was needed.She was a hard worker, and worked all the way up until she was diagnosed in February of 2018 and had to begin her treatments. She was a strong and courageous woman.
Pat adored her animals - Tina (a small dog) and Conner (her cat).She brought Conner many times to Karen's house in Fullerton and Tina would also come along for visits. She walked her dog Tina daily with her friends in the community at Laguna Woods always before work and at 4 p.m., meeting with her neighbors on schedule.

Pat had a fun personality with a very British sense of humor.She never complained and was very easy going.She loved her family and was always ready to help with family functions and family gatherings. Cooking was not her specialty, however at Christmas she made her famous MINCE PIES.They were always so much better when she made them!
Services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018, 3 p.m. at McCormick and Sons in Laguna Hills, followed by a reception in Laguna Woods.Patricia will be cremated and brought to England to lay to rest with her family at the Garden of Roses in Middlesex, England.
