Obituary

Patrician Ann Kaloian, a beloved mother, sister, grandma, aunt, cousin and friend, was born December 19th, 1947 in Baton Rouge, LA and passed away quickly, but peacefully, on Sunday, September 3rd, 2017 in her Laguna Woods home at the age of 69. Patricia was lovingly known by her family and friends as "Patty," "Tricia," "Momma," "Mom" and "Gram-Gram." Born to Robert and Eleanor Maloney, Patty was the eldest of four girls. Her sisters are Sue, Barb and Kack. Patty moved to Pomona, California in 1950 with her parents and siblings, where she was raised.Patty met the love of her life, Blake Anderson, while working at the Pomona Post Office. After a short courtship, Patty and Blake were married in 1966 at age 19 and had two children, Jacob and Sarah. After 19 years of marriage, Patty and Blake divorced in 1986, but continued to raise Jacob and Sarah together in a supportive and loving way.In 2000, Patty met Ken Everhart who stole her heart. They continued a mutually loving 17-year relationship until her passing. Patty is survived by her son Jacob, daughter Sarah, grandchildren Alexis, Tessa, Zack, Isaiah, Derek, Ashton, and Daylan, daughter-in-law Beth, son-in-law Douglas, sisters Sue, Barb and Kack, boyfriend Ken, cousins and many loved nieces and nephews and their families.Patty also had two beloved 14 year old cats named Puff and Sasha who she called her "babies."
Patty strongly believed in education and received a Bachelor's Degree and two Master's Degrees in Social Work. Her passion for helping others was reflected in her job as a licensed clinical social worker. She worked in the field of social work in Los Angeles and then at Orange County Mental Health for almost 30 years.
Patty's pride and joy was being a mom and grandma. She dedicated her whole life to raising Jacob and Sarah and then doting on and loving her 7 grandchildren.Patty's sensitive, loving and caring heart was demonstrated in how she raised her children. This laid the foundation for Jacob and Sarah and influenced them to be the people they are today. When she was physically able, she helped raise and care for her grandchildren. She would say, "taking care of my grandchildren is helping me more than I am helping them."She loved being around them which brightened her life. When she became disabled toward the end of her life, she would still make the effort to attend her grandchildren's recitals, plays and birthdays.
Patty was passionate about many things throughout her life. She loved to travel, listen to classical music and have fun.She spent a number of years camping, traveling to Alaska, going on cruises and took her last trip to Hawaii in 2013 before she was too disabled to travel.Patty enjoyed a number of operas, musicals, ballets and orchestra concerts over the course of her life. She loved many classical artists including, Bach, Beethoven and Mozart. At times, Patty could be the life of the party and would get up and dance at family events.Patty loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor.Patty was continually active throughout most of her life.Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when she was 50 years old and progressively became less active as she was older and was unable to experience the things she loved when she was younger and able. However, she took up a passion for reading and loved mysteries, watching good movies and spending time with her family.
Patty had an extremely empathetic and compassionate heart to those who were suffering, and to animals and to children. She had many pets over the course of her life and tended to each one, even at the end of their lives. She wanted to help others at work, in her personal life and anyone in need. She donated to many charities to make a difference including the Arthritis Foundation, St. Jude Children's Hospital, The Veterans Association of America, The American Lung Association, The Salvation Army and The World Wildlife Fund.
Every person who came in contact with Patty was touched by her loving heart and gentle soul.Over the years, people only had kind things to say about Patty.Patty would continually find the good in others and complimented everyone on their strengths, gifts and beauty. She had a way of making people feel good about themselves. She was also a very generous woman. She would always say yes when someone asked for help and would always give of herself and her time.In her softness, kindness and generosity, she had great strength that was admired by others.
