Obituary

Persida (Persa) Krecu was born on October 14, 1932 in Grebanc, Yugoslavia (Serbia) to Jon and Ana Samanc.  She was the second oldest of seven children.

In 1956, she married Josif Krecu, whom she was with for 64 years until his passing in 2020.  They went on to have their first two sons, Milijan and Dimitri.  As Josif and Persida planned their future together they wanted a better life for their growing family, free from the oppressive government they were living under at the time.

In 1962, they successfully escaped Yugoslavia and legally immigrated to New York City.  They both immediately found work and began saving for their future home. While living in New York, they won their first car in a raffle contest, despite the fact that neither one had a legal driver's license at the time.

In 1967, the very same car helped them relocate across the country where they bought their first home in Hawthorne, California. There, they added three more children to their family, John, Roman and Corinne.

Persida found a job working for Teledyne Relays. She was soon promoted to a leadership position when her boss told her, "If you can raise five kids while working a full time job, then you can be a lead lady!" She worked there until she retired in 1992.  After retirement, Josif and Persida moved to their forever home in Mission Viejo, California.

Persida committed her life to the Lord and became a Christian at an early age. Her steadfast faith and trust in Christ was the anchor that gave her strength and the compass that lead and guided her throughout her entire life. Persida belonged to the Apostolic Christian Church of La Puente, California where she faithfully served the Lord in various capacities.

Persida was a talented homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and making sure everyone around her was well fed. By far, her greatest joy was her family, who she lovingly and unconditionally devoted herself to. Nothing delighted Persida more than family gatherings or just spending time with everyone.

She went on to be with the Lord on September 16, 2025 at the age of 92.  Although we miss her dearly, we are comforted by the fact that she has received her eternal reward from God and is finally where she's always wanted to be, in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her brother George (Julie) Samanc; children Milijan (Leah) Krecu, Dimitri (Debbie) Krecu, John (Donna) Krecu, Roman (Silvia) Krecu and Corinne (Peter) Bocka; grandchildren Lauren Krecu, Cayla Niepris, Erik (Danielle) Krecu, Allyse (fiancé Davion Boggs) Bocka, Isaak Krecu and Andrew Bocka; great grandchildren Harper, Tanner, Ophelia, Juniper and Kaptain; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Josif; sisters Maria Dosen and Ellenuca Beklian; brothers John Samanc, Aurel Samanc and Leo Samanc.
