Peter James Astrup was born November 13th, 1932 in the Bronx, New York. After a brave and courageous fight against Pancreatic Cancer, diagnosed in the fall of 2013, he passed away at age 82 in Irvine, CA on August 24th, 2015. He died at home surrounded by his loving family.

A career Marine, he retired as a Chief warrant Officer II in 1970. His service spanned both the Korean conflict as well as the Vietnam War. His military assignments included many moves to states on both the East and West Coast. Pete eventually settled in New Hyde Park, NY where he began a second career as a mortgage banker. He moved West to Irvine, CA in 2012.

Pete was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in New Hyde Park, NY. He ushered at the five O'clock mass. Pete was always available to help others when needed. A handyman at heart, he could fix anything. His hobbies were many, including playing cards with friends, boating, water skiing, fishing, golfing and most of all, building and flying model airplanes. Pete always enjoyed throwing dice at the casino!!

Pete is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie, and his two sons, Peter and Kevin, daughter-in-law Jean Anne and six grandchildren.

Pete's life touched many people and he will be dearly and deeply missed. May he rest in peace with god.
