Peter Katsiametis,
AKA
• Mr. Pete
• Taki
• Pappou
Our beloved "gentleman" Peter Katsiametis died February 10, 2014 in Laguna Hills, California. He was survived by the love of his life and wife Maria, his two children and their spouses, five grandchildren and three siblings.
Peter was born in Greece in 1936 and immigrated to Santa Monica California in 1956. He worked his way up from bus boy to waiter to bartender and eventually became the proud owner of several restaurants in Southern California. In 1975 he moved his family to San Clemente, California where he opened Mr. Pete Burgers and Pedro's Tacos, both of which are still proudly operating under his name today. After he retired he eventually moved and settled into the Laguna Woods retirement community, although San Clemente will always be considered his home.
Mr. Pete once said, "I never learned how to golf or play any sports because all I ever did was work". After his passing his granddaughter Kylie said it best when she said, "I hope Pappou has a hot tub in heaven". Practically every day after retirement he went to the hot tub and anxiously awaiting strangers that he could convert to friends. He talked business with the men, gave advice to the youngsters and flirted with the women, no matter how young or old they were.
In the Greek community he was known as "Taki". Taki was the first to any party and loved the Glendi. He could take any setting. good or bad, and make it a good time for all. As long as he had his parea and a glass of wine in his hand, he would start his singing and just like that, the party would begin.
May his memory be eternal and his "Glendi" continue in heaven. Join us Saturday February 15, 2014 for our beloved gentleman's last party on earth.
