Phoebe Beythoun Saaty, born August 19, 1931 in Mosel, Iraq to Samuel Jabouri Beythoun and Wahida Said Charmouckley, passed peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in Laguna Niguel, California.From a family of seven, she has four surviving siblings, Nuha, Suha, Jabir and Maha. Phoebe moved to California in the late '50's with her husband Wade Saaty, after they met in Baghdad and Married in April of 1955.Wade and Phoebe welcomed their only daughter, Tami in 1961.
Wade and Phoebe made a loving home in Redlands, California where she worked for Loma Linda Medical Center over 30 years as a Medical Transcriptionist and Supervisor. Phoebe was widowed in 1998 and move to Rancho Santa Margarita, California to be near her daughter and granddaughter Darian. She is survived by her daughter Tami Glander, Son-in-law Thomas Glander, Granddaughter Darian Perez, her sisters and brother and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phoebe enjoyed playing the piano and singing when she was growing up.She also helped her mother take care of her younger siblings.She was a wonderful cook and hostess.When it was her turn to host the family for a holiday dinner, she was always running around making sure everyone was eating and had everything they needed.Numerous times you heard someone say "Phoebe, sit down and eat something, we are fine!"Phoebe also enjoyed many trips to the local beaches and parks for family bar-b-ques and get-togethers.
In 1997 her only granddaughter was born and Phoebe's life had new meaning."Nana" helped raise Darian, driving her to school and making sure homework was always done on time.She was a blessing to her immediate family and to those around her.She attended all of Darian's school functions and was her Number 1 Fan.
Phoebe loved the time spent with friends and family.She was a very generous and loving woman. She always had time to talk if you needed to and to provide solutions to many of life's problems.She will be missed.
Services will be held Sunday, July 14 2019, 11:00 am. at McCormick & Son Mortuary, 25000 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Woods, CA followed by a reception.Phoebe will be laid to rest with her loving husband Wade on Monday, July 15, 2019 at El Toro Memorial Park, Lake Forest, CA.
