Life Reflections

Ollie Phyllis (Phyllis, as she was affectionately known) was born on October 24, 1948 in Silver Creek, Mississippi to James Howard and Alta Parkman. She was the oldest of three children born to this union. When Phyllis was three years old her family relocated to Monrovia, California.
Phyllis attended Huntington Elementary School in Monrovia, CA, Beardslee Middle School in Duarte, CA and Duarte High School. It was in elementary school where Phyllis met her lifelong friends--Delores (Lorry), Irene, Dorothy, Olivett, and Alice --whom she always called her sisters.
Phyllis married Eric L. Greene II (Butch) in 1964, and out of this union they had three children-- Yolanda Bridgette, Eric Lesley III and Anna Corrine. After their marriage ended, Butch and Phyllis remained lifelong friends.Later, Phyllis welcomed her baby daughter, Angela Marie, to her loving family.

In August 2010, Phyllis married Clifton McGee.They "Jumped the Broom" and remained loving husband and wife until her passing.
Phyllis had a smile that could brighten your day.If you were hungry, you could always count on Cliff and Phyllis to barbecue or even make a big pot of gumbo. Often Cliff and Phyllis could be found playing dominoes or spades with their childhood friends. The two of them also loved their music and had no problem keeping one another entertained.Phyllis was a strong, unique, outspoken woman. You never had to imagine what she was thinking because she had a unique way of letting you know.
Over 13 years ago she took on the responsibility of taking care of her mother, Alta (aka Momma), never complaining or asking for anyone's assistance. And you better believe she took good care of her mother.Despite their individual disabilities, often Cliff, Momma, and Phyllis were determined to attend birthday celebrations or other family gatherings. If you invited them, they were happy to be there.

Phyllis accepted Christ at an early age.You could count on her to be on the prayer line praying for everybody she ever knew, and if you happened to stop by while they were praying, you were on the line also.
Phyllis was proud of her children and loved showing off her grandbabies! She had a special bond with them all.Phyllis deeply loved her family and friends, and throughout her lifetime, she always displayed courage and strength even when faced with adversity and illness.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Clifton McGee; mother, Alta Jones; four children--Yolanda Bridgett, Eric Lesley III, Anna Corrine (Marcus) and Angela Marie (Leonard); two stepdaughters, Crystal and Cynthia; eight grandchildren: LaRon, Julian (Amber), Alana, Corbin, Tyler, Caleb, Alyssa and Drew; four great grandchildren. Ava, Julian, Logan, Kinsley, two brothers, Aldin and Ronald; one brother-in-law, George (Gwen); five sisters-in-law: Maryann, Alberta (Leslie), Irene (Luther), Veronica (David) and Dorothy (Lee).Phyllis also leaves to cherish her memory a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
