Phyllis Elaine Wolf Rhodes, known lovingly by her family as "G.G.", peacefully passed away on May 6, 2017 at Saddleback Memorial Hospital in Laguna Hills, CA, just 6 days after moving to California from Cincinnati to be near her family.
G.G. is survived by her son, Donald W. Rhodes, his wife, Julie Rhodes, grandchildren Adam R. Hagee, Heather L. Short and James C. Short, and great-grandchildren Jacob, Hailey, Landon and Winter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank Herbert "Herb" Rhodes and her parents, Ruth Siebert Wolf and Paul L. Wolf of Terre Haute, Indiana.
Following graduation from Indiana University, Phyllis worked as a Dental Hygienist in Indianapolis where she met Herb. They were married in August of 1957 and later had their only child, Don. In 1971, the family moved to Anderson township in Cincinnati where Phyllis became a fulltime homemaker. After living in Summit Estates for 41 years, Phyllis and Herb moved to New England Club in 2012.
G.G. was a thoughtful and generous lady, always remembering to send cards and gifts to family members on their birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and other holidays. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Milford. She was friendly, outgoing and helpful to all those around her. She had played golf in earlier years and later enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and other sports on TV as well as playing a weekly game of Euchre. She was active, full of life and happy to be in California until she fell asleep for the last time in the company of her son.
We thank all Phyllis and Herb's friends and fellow church members in Cincinnati who visited them and helped with their care throughout the years.
Phyllis will be buried next to Herb at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Cincinnati. There will be a brief graveside ceremony led by Pastor William Fenker on Tuesday, May 23 at 10:30 am. Anyone wishing to attend the service may stop by the cemetery office (located in the red brick building) for directions to the gravesite.
