.Purita Alvarez Cortez was born on September 26, 1946 and passed away on January 16, 2017 at the age of 70 in Lake Forest, California. She is survived by her grandchildren: Matthew, Richard, Ethan, Giovani, Erika, Ashley, Alyssa, Alison, C.J., Joshua, Daniel, and Angel; her children: Edgar, Giovani, Sonny, Albert, Allan, Christopher, Anthony, and Christy; as well as her siblings: Eduardo, Rodrigo, Regidor, Violeta, Josephine, Marcelo Jr., and Elizabeth.

Purita was born in Pampanga, Philippines to her parents, Marcelo and Marciana Alvarez. In 1966, she married her husband, Antonio U. Cortez in Manila, Philippines. Purita grew up in Manila and later migrated to the United States in 1978, and later brought her 6 children along. She later lived in San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point, CA where they had two more children, Anthony and Christy. In 1986, she moved to her permanent residence in Lake Forest, CA.

Purita had a passion for food and loved to cook. She is known to offer food to all who came to visit. She had a great sense of humor and was often cited happy with a smile on her face which was what most will remember her by.

Purita will be laid to rest at El Toro Memorial Park near home and family on Saturday, January 28, 2017.
