IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rachel Joan
Nagel
June 28, 1928 – November 6, 2024
Rachel enjoyed a long and healthy life and saw many discoveries and changes in her 96 years. She was born on a Nebraska farm just prior to the Great Depression and raised in a small town in eastern Montana. She went to college to become a teacher and had many adventures teaching in a one room schoolhouse and on a reservation early in her career. She later worked as an elementary school teacher and then a special education teacher and her profession gave her great satisfaction.
Rachel met the love of her life, Kenneth, and they married and moved to California in the early 1950's, where they raised their family of four daughters. Upon retirement Rachel and Kenneth moved to Oregon and built a beautiful home on acreage and had many happy years there. After Kenneth's death Rachel eventually moved to Laguna Woods in 2016 and enjoyed being close to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rachel was a very intelligent person who loved to talk politics to all she encountered. She loved the Lord and was deeply devoted to spiritual activities. She loved her family and her caring nature was evidenced by her prayers, actions, and her concern for them. She endured great sorrow when she lost Kenneth in 2007 and daughters Carla in 2019 and Jennifer in 2020.
We will miss our sweet Mom to Theresa (Carlos) and Rachel (Jacques), Grammy to Erin (Eric), David (Chantel), Julia, Nicholas (Kate), and Natalie, and Gigi to Liam, Ethan, Evan, and Edric. We are so blessed to have had you in our lives as for long as we did. You will live on in our hearts and our memories. We love you forever!
