IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond Mark
Longmore
November 25, 1934 – September 9, 2022
Raymond Mark Longmore, born November 25 th , 1934 in Boston, MA, passed away on the morning of Friday, September 9 th , 2022 in his Laguna Woods, CA home. Ray was a loving husband to his wife Diamond Longmore and a devoted father and "Pop Pop" to his children and grandchildren. Born to Ralph and Esther Longmore, Ray had one sibling Franklin Longmore (deceased). He moved to California in 2003 with his wife Diamond to be closer to their daughter Rhonda, son-in-law Jon and their growing family.
Ray met his wife and love of his life Diamond (lovingly known as "Sam"), marrying in 1970. They raised their two children Rhonda Longmore-Grund of Laguna Hills and Travis Longmore of Deridder, Louisiana. Ray deeply loved his daughter Kim Longmore of North Weymouth, Massachusetts who was born in his previous marriage to Barbara Longmore (Deceased in 2003).
Ray worked as a commercial designer and general contractor for most of his career. His legacy lives on in some of the design work that he was particularly proud of for the Trinity Lutheran Church and John Hancock Building, both in the Boston area. In the late 80's, he retired from commercial design and joined his wife in her business endeavors opening up a men's formal wear business called "Tuxedo" in the South Shore of Massachusetts. Retiring from the retail business, they moved from Massachusetts to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1996, and then to Laguna Woods, California in 2003 to be closer to family.
Ray was a voracious reader, an incredible cook and adventurer at heart. In his younger years, you could find Ray riding camels in Egypt, on safari in Kenya or Tanzania, zip lining in Peru or cruising the world – always with the love of his life Diamond by his side. After 52 years of marriage, Ray and Diamond were still lovebirds, still holding hands watching TV at night, spending nightly dinners on their balcony admiring the sunsets together hand in hand, still with a twinkle in their eye when they talked about each other. Ray loved his wife Diamond beyond measure.
Ray is survived by his wife Diamond, along with their daughter Rhonda Longmore-Grund and son-in-law Jon Grund, son Travis Longmore and two grandchildren Olivia Grund and Mia Grund. Ray is also survived by his daughter Kim Longmore from his first marriage to Barbara Longmore (deceased), along with two grandchildren Emily Pontz, and Elizabeth Pontz and two great grandchildren.
