Obituary

Remigio "Remi" Alinsunurin Lebrilla, born October 1, 1952 in Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines, passed away from multiple myeloma on February 10, 2025, at the age of 72, in his home in Kingman, AZ. He was surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife, Lina Lebrilla; their children, Lissette Bartolome and husband Derek Bartolome, Oliver Lebrilla and wife Victoria Lebrilla; grandchildren, Peyton Bartolome and Jordan Bartolome; mother, Nazaria Lebrilla; siblings, Alex Lebrilla, Honorato Lebrilla, Iluminada Bueno, Eduardo Lebrilla, Angela Barrientos, Crisostomo Lebrilla and Edgardo Lebrilla, plus over 20 nieces and nephews.

Remi came to the United States by joining the U.S. Navy in 1973. This provided him with opportunities not only for himself, but a way to help his family back home. While in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Lina. The two married on May 7, 1977 in Jacksonville, FL. They brought Christopher, their first son, into this world on August 23, 1978; sadly, Christopher was born premature and passed away hours later. Remi and Lina moved to Long Beach, CA where they soon welcomed their second child, Lissette, on September 21, 1979; a healthy baby girl. This prompted Remi to re-think his military service. Wanting to be present for his growing family, Remi opted to leave the Navy in July of 1980. A year and a half later, they welcomed their baby boy, Oliver, on January 14, 1982, completing their little family. Remi and his family eventually relocated to Laguna Hills, CA which they called home for over 30 years. Remi and Lina finally settled in Kingman, AZ a couple years ago to enjoy their relaxing and slow-paced retirement life.

"It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35. Remi's generosity paved the way for many in need. He was always giving and compassionate towards others. Opening up his home to those in need, giving others the opportunities to make a better life for themselves and never asking for anything in return. Many of his relatives got their start in the U.S. with his help, and others were helped to get back on their feet by his kindness and support.

Remi radiated positive energy, and everyone around him felt his presence. He loved to joke around to make people laugh and always had a positive outlook on life, regardless of the circumstances. He loved to sing, and would often be heard singing or humming randomly throughout the day; but when the karaoke machine was brought out, his voice shined bright and loud for all to hear. Some of the iconic songs he would sing included 'Lady in Red' by Chris de Burgh, 'Unchained Melody' by The Righteous Brothers and any song by The Beatles, which was his favorite band. He also loved to garden. He designed the layout of his backyard in Kingman, complete with a rose garden, citrus trees, dragon fruit and a walking path, which he used every morning and evening to get exercise and reflect in peace. He had a passion for cooking. He'd often create meals just with whatever he had on hand, but was known for some specific dishes that were always requested at gatherings.

Not only did Remi have a very positive outlook on life, but he also led a very faithful life. He would often be seen reading books to strengthen his spiritual journey, including the Bible and writing positive affirmations, being a great example for his children and grandchildren who he adored.  He enjoyed teaching Peyton how to ride a bike and swimming with Jordan. The love he had for his family and compassion he had for others was the true essence of Remi.
