Obituary

Richard Scott Begando born April 11, 1960, passed away May 4, 2015 at the age of 55. He died peacefully while in his sleep. Rick will join his father Kenneth Joseph Begando who passed in 1978. He is survived by his mother, Carole Diane Lane, his three children Wesley Scott Begando, Elisabeth Lynn Begando and Victoria Ruth Begando, sister Cynthia (Gray), brother Kenneth Begando and cousins Anthony Begando and Lisa Marie Begando.

Rick was born in Torrance, California. He was the first great-grandchild, grandchild, and the oldest of three children. Rick attended Fountain Valley High School, where he played soccer. He then attended Humboldt State University majoring in Forestry. After a year, he changed his major to Ornamental Horticulture and Irrigation Design and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona. He later attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.

Rick was always interested in nature. His first toy was a stuffed "Smokey the Bear". Rick was a very devout Christian and a genuine, caring and loving person. He loved his children and family very much. Rick worked hard at everything he did. At 15, Rick had a ruptured appendix with serious complications leaving him with poor circulation. A few years later, he lost his father. These events were very hard on him. His faith in God helped him through these and other challenging times. Rick was a compassionate and caring man.

Rick left us too soon and we will all miss him dearly, yet never forget his kind heart and deep soulful eyes. May he rest in peace.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held May 14, 2015 at McCormick and Sons Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA.
