The Obituary for Richard Oliver Goble
December 1, 1932 – June 15, 2022
Richard Oliver Goble was born on December 1, 1932, in Mason, Michigan, to Harold and Alice Loretta (Ley) Goble. As the eldest of four children, he was later joined by his brother Frank and sisters Patricia and Joan.
Richard attended Catholic schools in Michigan and spent his early years there before proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War era. On September 15, 1951, he married Mary Ann Buck in Lansing, Michigan. Together they raised seven children: Ann Louise, Elaine Marie, Cynthia Diane, Alice Mary, Deborah Jean, Beverly Ann, and Richard Francis.
In 1964, the family moved to Laguna Beach, California, where Richard worked as a chef in several restaurants before returning to school to become a welder. He was an active member of his community and the Elks Lodge, serving as a longtime member of the Laguna Beach Lodge and as Exalted Ruler of the San Clemente Lodge. Later he joined the Knights of Columbus in Washington and Oregon.
After their children were grown, Richard and Mary Ann relocated to Marysville, Washington. Upon retiring in 2002, they settled on six acres in Jacksonville, Oregon, where they enjoyed raising chickens and embracing a quieter way of life. Richard especially loved riding his Harley Davidson, going to auctions, camping, traveling, and fishing. He was a beekeeper and especially enjoyed making homemade ice cream with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In 2017, Richard and Mary Ann returned to Southern California, where they made their home in an assisted living community in San Juan Capistrano. Richard passed away peacefully on June 15, 2022, at the age of 89.
Richard is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Mary Ann; six of their seven children: Ann Ardohain, Cynthia Carmer, Alice (Norman) Blandel, Deborah (Gerald “Dusty") White, Beverly Eaves, and Richard Goble; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Patricia Kundrat and Joan Wenzlick; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Elaine Marie Goble; his grandson, Travis James White; his great-granddaughter, Rose Katherine White; his brother, Frank Goble; and his parents, Harold and Alice Goble. His beloved grandson, Nicolas James Paris-Goble, passed away just four days after Richard.
