Obituary

Richard 'Rico' Gray was born in Los Angeles on August 17, 1956 to his loving parents Jim and Marilyn Gray. He grew up in Gardena, Ca. with his parents and his older sister Candyce and his younger siblings David, Sharlene and Laura. In 1974 Rich and the family moved to Torrance, Ca. where he lived until shortly before his passing.

Rich graduated from Maria Regina Elementary School in Gardena and Junipero Serra High School also in Gardena.

Upon graduation from high school, Rich served in the United States Air Force for two years and was honorably discharged.

Rich then began a 35 year career at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Harbor City, Ca. where he worked in materials management. During his long tenure at Kaiser, Rich made many close and long lasting friendships that he cherished to the end.

Rich served his parish church, St. Margaret Mary in Lomita, as an usher for many years. Rich enjoyed the friendship and love of his many wonderful neighbors in Torrance.

Rich devoted all of his free time to his family and friends. Rich was blessed with three nephews, Noah, Max and Jacob and five nieces, Danielle, Gabriela, Julia, Genevieve and Melanie. Rich was equally blessed with two caring brothers-in-law, Mike Graham and John Bradley and his loving sister-in-law Theresa Gray.

Rich was an avid sports fan and followed the Angels, Dodgers, Lakers and Kings since childhood. While he enjoyed going to the games of his favorite teams, he enjoyed nothing more than when he went to games or competitions, whether it be baseball, soccer, basketball, softball, color guard, cross country or track and field, involving his nieces and nephews.

Rich passed away peacefully at his home in Lake Forest in the presence of his family on March 20, 2015.

While Rich will be missed and mourned by his family and friends, he is now in the loving arms of the Lord, surrounded by all of his family members and friends who preceded him into Eternal Life with God.
