Richard Lee Schwenn, was born November 22, 1954, in Long Beach, California. He passed peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 15,2023 at his home in Los Alamitos, California. Born to Donald and Kathleen Schwenn, he has two siblings, Kitty Hall and Christopher Schwenn. Rick grew up in Torrance, California and met the love of his life, Linda Tiberio while attending West Torrance High School. They married in 1978 and have two sons, Greg and Bret.
During High School Rick excelled at basketball and baseball and received numerous awards for his contributions. He played baseball for Cal Poly Pomona as a pitcher and helped lead the team to their first National Baseball Championship.
Rick worked as an electrician at Northrop Corporation for 15 years before joining the sales division at Walters Wholesale Electric in Anaheim, California. He was employed for more than 20 years at Walter's, earning accolades for his salesmanship.
He was a lifelong sports fan and enjoyed playing on community softball teams. The family loved traveling to tournaments, meeting other families and establishing lasting friendships. Rick coached his son's little league teams and took great pride in their abilities. After Rick retired, he met weekly with his golf buddies playing various courses throughout Southern California. As a super fanof the Dodgers, Rams and UCLA Bruins, he rarely missed a game and could always be found stretched out in his Lazy Boy in front of the TV on game nights.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda. Sons, Greg (Bridget) Schwenn, Bret (Alisha) Schwenn, who were the light of his life, and grandchildren, Blake, Jack, Kody, Wyatt, Taylor and Karley, stepmother, Rachel Schwenn, mother-in-law, Delores Tiberio Feicht, sister, Kitty Hall, half brother, Chris Schwenn, brother- in- law Rick (Michelle) Tiberio, sister- in- law Kathy (Marty) Keach and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, as well as dear childhood and family friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 18, 11:00 a.m. at the Long Beach Yacht Club, 6201E. Appian Way, Long Beach, CA 90803. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial gift to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
