Brandt, (Stretch) Robert Stevens, born May 27, 1922 passed away November 23, 2013 at the age of 91. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He is survived by his wife Edith I. Brandt and three children; Barbara, Bruce and K. Rene Brandt. Stretch, (as his many friends called him) was also blessed with seven grandchildren; Darren Burke, Chad Seeman, Mike Turrell, Lisa Turrell, Toby Turrell, Tim Turrell, Sean Finley and five great grandchildren; Sophie, Allison, Kaitlyn, Tanner Turrell and Victoria Burke.

Robert was born in Eades, Colorado. The son of Walter and Hazel Brandt. Robert attended the University of Nebraska for two years, married Edith on June 18, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. Soon after he enlisted in the Navy, serving in WWII from November 6, 1942 through October 31, 1945.

He fought in the Mediterranean, Normandy and Pacific Campaigns which included Africa, Sicily, Salerno, and Normandy. Stretch's recognition awards were The European Theater Ribbon with four battle stars and Exercise Tiger Medal from France.

After the war Robert pursued a career as a Sales Representative for Aeronautical companies and then became a Real Estate Broker.

Stretch was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed golf, bocce ball, camping, and boating.



Robert was affiliated with Wounded Warriors, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts.

A Celebration of Life, will be held December 6, 2013 at the Laguna Woods Clubhouse #1 at 2:15 pm.

Clubhouse #1 is located at 24232 Calle Aragon, Laguna Woods, California 92637.

Graveside and Interment will be Saturday December 7, 2013 at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California .
