Obituary

Robert "Bob" Michael Vigneau

Born January 11, 1957 in Santa Monica, California to Jim and Eileen Vigneau died December 28, 2015 in San Clemente, California.

Bob graduated from Leuzinger High School, Lawndale, California in 1975. He aspired to be an architect, but as he said "he landed in ladies dresses" working for Joshua Tree in Redondo Beach, California. He later began working in the mortuary business at Douglas Dunaway Mortuary in Hawthorne, California, where he felt he could really help people.

Bob was a "go-getter", always going after whatever he wanted no matter what.

True to this characteristic, one Sunday while at church, he spotted Peggy from the choir where he was seated. He asked the church secretary who she was then proceeded to sneak into the church office and steal Peggy's unlisted phone number. Their first date was dinner at Bob's Big Boy restaurant and then to the movies to see "Out of Africa". The date was a success, four months later Bob and Peggy married on September 13, 1986.

Bob started having health issues that resulted in a career change back to the garment industry, working for Beverly Hills Denim, Pepe Jeans and Fresh Jive. He later began working for Altmann's Winnebago and then Giant RV as manager of the Parts Department.

By 2006, after moving from the South Bay area to South Orange County, California, Bob re-entered the funeral industry working at Shannon Bryan Mortuary in Orange, McCormick & Son Mortuary in Laguna Hills, Orange County Coroner's Office, as well as San Bernardino County Coroner's Office over the past ten years. He also established his company Valtodd Mortuary Services, and Elysium Cremations.

Bob was a man of many talents and interest. He spent the first years of his marriage remolding their house, doing all the work himself. Bob loved RVing, as well building and flying model airplanes. His most recent interest was the purchase of a Honda Goldwing motorcycle which he and Peggy planned to tour around in, but not long after, Bob was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 29 ½ years, Peggy Hunsucker Vigneau, his son Jeremy Wesson (wife Laurie Byland Calderon), his daughter Rebekah Wesson Calderon (husband Patrick), five grandchildren; Kyle, Mason, Aidan, Jake, and Vivian, as well as his oldest brother Jim Vigneau (wife Roberta), sisters; Theresa Vigneau Sage (husband John), Pamela Vigneau Sears (husband Darrell), and Dianne Vigneau Henspeter (husband Gary), and countless nieces and nephews.
