Roger William Titgemeyer
August 23, 1943 – March 27, 2025

TRABUCO CANYON, CA - Roger William Titgemeyer 81, of Trabuco Canyon passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday evening, March 27, 2025 after a year's long battle with prostate cancer and a 14-year journey with Parkinson's.

He was born in Cleveland, OH on August 23, 1943, son of the late Robert W. and Virginia (Weaver) Titgemeyer. Roger graduated from Arcadia High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from the University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in economics.  After graduation, Roger was drafted into the US. Army where he served 2 years of active duty during the Vietnam War.  Following his military service, Roger went on to complete a Master's degree in counseling and psychology through Cal State University, Los Angeles and a Ph.D from the University of Western Colorado.

As a parent, Roger was very involved in the lives of his kids growing up.  He enjoyed coaching their various sports teams, participating in scouting trips, coordinating deep-sea fishing excursions, or arranging for and taxiing them to their various lessons whether it be academic, music related, pitching clinics, surfing or other endeavors.

In his down time, Roger was a prolific reader of psychology-based books, amassing quite a collection over the years. Roger, being a very social person, loved to organize events for friends/family to attend together. In addition, he loved to golf and was very passionate about running. Roger ran the New York marathon twice and competed in many triathlons, often organizing teams to participate with him or simply to cheer them on.

Roger's professional career spanned 36 years. He worked in various capacities in K-12 public education, in private practice as a counseling psychologist, and as a part-time college professor at Cal Poly Pomona. He also taught graduate level classes at several California State Universities and Chapman University.

Roger was a skilled presenter who loved developing and conducting professional development opportunities for administrators, psychologists, clinicians, teachers and support staff. He was adept at meeting new people and nurturing and strengthening those connections often resulting in relationships that lasted for years. Roger always loved a challenge, particularly the ones where he thought he could make a difference in someone else's life. In 2005, after 21 years as the Director of Special Schools for the Orange County Department of Education, Roger retired – or so he thought.

After flunking retirement, Roger went back to work part-time for the next 4 years while putting his youngest son Mike thru college. Once he finally settled into retirement life, he continued running & competing in events until a hip replacement in 2012 sidelined him. His golf group of thirty years picked up the slack and they golfed weekly with yearly trips playing various courses in the area and surrounding states. In his later years, Roger and his wife Lori traveled around in their Airstream travel trailer. They took a lot of great trips throughout the west and even traveled cross country to the southeast and up into New England.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Lori Stillings; three children, Chelsea Ramalia and husband Dave of Windsor, CA, Keith Titgemeyer and wife Carrie of Harrah, OK, Michael Titgemeyer and wife Liz Brown of Reno, NV; three step-children, Justin Yee and wife Sarah of Spanish Fork, UT, Alyssa Yee and partner Brandon Brisco of Mission Viejo, CA and Daniel Yee of Hong Kong; and 10 grandchildren, Jaden Siegel, River Oandasan, Kayla Titgemeyer, Thomas Titgemeyer, Morgan Magaoay and husband Luke, Daniel, Taylor, Dallin and Ryan Yee, and Jackson Brisco; and a sister, Betsy Burcham of Arcadia, CA;  and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private Celebration of Life event will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research .
