Ronald Jack Munson was born in Birmingham, Alabama on April 25, 1951 to Jack and Georgie Munson. He was the oldest of six children.Ron is survived by his wife, Sally, step-son Adam, brothers Wayne (Susan) and Roland Munson (Ann), sisters Brenda Both and Debbie Holloway (Lee) and his nieces and nephews. Ron lived in several states including Alaska, where his family survived the 1964 earthquake of a 9.2 magnitude.
Ron entered the Army after high school and served in Viet Nam. He was awarded a purple heart and other medals for being shot down while on duty in a helicopter. After discharge from the Army, Ron lived in Fairbanks, Alaska where he worked on the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline in the 1970s along with his Dad and brother Roland. Ron loved fishing in Alaska and he and Sally were able to go to Alaska for his last fishing trip in 2017.
After working on the pipeline Ron returned to Florida and he went to flight school and obtained his commercial pilot's license, one of his proudest accomplishments and, unfortunately, it was short lived. He flew passengers in small planes to Caribbean Islands and short distances in while residing in Florida, California and New Mexico. He later joined the Teamsters Construction Union and worked with them since 1989. He was a retired Teamster.
Ron came to know the Lord as his personal Savior from while stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas in 1970 by a lieutenant. He was later baptized at Denali Bible Church in Fairbanks, Alaska. Ron will be missed so much, but we have confidence and assurance that he is now in Heaven in a new body, no pain or suffering and he is now fishing in Heaven. Praise God!
