Rosemarie (Silva) Winstead was born on April 22, 1935, in Hollister, CA., to the late Thomas and Carmen Silva. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and loved ones on October 18, 2024, in Laguna Niguel, CA after a lengthy illness. Rosemarie lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years. She worked at the U.S. Public Health Hospital in San Francisco, where she met her late husband James R. Winstead. Rosemarie returned to her hometown of Hollister to live in 1986, where she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. She later moved with her son, Jim, and his family to Southern California in 2017. Rosemarie is an avid music lover and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.
Rosemarie is a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, godmother, and aunt to a host of nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her son James R. Winstead, Jr.; son-in-law Rodney Naccarato-Winstead; her two grandsons: Ezekiel James Winstead and Xavier Lee Winstead; numerous nieces & nephews; and other relatives and friends. She also had a cherished relationship with her "daughter of the heart" Claudine Martinez-Padilla (Ret. Col. Darian Padilla) of Albuquerque, N.M.
Rosemarie was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years: James R. Winstead; her parents: Thomas Silva and Carmen (Flores) Silva; her three sisters: Loretta Rogers, Helen Leftridge, and Edna Guillen; and her five brothers: Ivan Silva, Joe Valdez, Andrew "Choppo" Silva, Kenneth Silva, and Tom Silva.
The family would like to thank Rosemarie's nieces: Robin Leftridge, Ruth Harris, and Teresa Longoria for their love and support throughout her time of need.
Mrs. Winstead will be transported to Hollister, CA for funeral service and interment.
