Obituary
Sarah Lois Farley, known as Sally by those near and dear to her, was born on January 30th 1925 and passed on November 19, 2014 at the age of 89. She died peacefully, knowing she would be joining her beloved husband of 45 years, John J. Farley Sr. and her daughter, Sara Farney, who passed in 1985. Sally is survived by four of her children; John J. Farley Jr. (Gloria), Mary Patricia Seastrom (Philip), Colleen Farley and Sharon Tischler. Sally was also blessed with 12 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
Sally was born in Altoona, PA, the sixth of seven children born to Edward and Mary O'Friel. Always independent, Sally left high school and began working at the Mine Safety Company, where she met the love of her life, John (Jack) Farley. After a year of courting, they were married in Pittsburgh, PA at St. Paul's Cathedral on September 10, 1946.
Within the first year of being married, the newlyweds moved across the country to Southern California and started their family. Sally's greatest joy was being a mother and raising their five children; these words were found tucked away in her belongings:
"Everything she does reflects her feelings for her family, the treasurers in her life she's proudest of – Everything she shares bring so much happiness to living…
Everything she touches turns to love."
Sally was an Irish beauty with red hair to match the fire in her personality; always elegant but never one to shy away from a clever joke or story. A gourmet cook, her home was always filled with the scent of baking or a good, old fashioned dinner. Once her children were grown, she enjoyed seeing the world, being lost in a book or challenging herself with a crossword puzzle. Sally was always sharp, one step ahead, and as she would say, "You can never fool me."
When Sally knew it was time to say goodbye, she did it in a manner fitting to how she lived her life – with quiet dignity, beautiful in every moment, on her own terms.
Private services will be held on November 24, 2014 at the Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, CA at 11:00 AM.
