Shing Hwei Hu passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 6, 2022, just four months shy of her 85th birthday.

Shing was born on November 17, 1937 in Hsinying, Taiwan. She gained a Masters Degree in History from National Taiwan University and went on to teach for a couple of years, prior to pursuing her true passion for art. She married her husband, Jan Shing Hu, and shortly after, the two moved to Tokyo, Japan, where she attended a prestigious art school.

They immigrated to California and raised their two children in San Marino and Laguna Beach, where she opened her art gallery and spent the remainder of her life.

Shing is survived by her two children, Chien & Ping; her son-in-law & daughter-in-law, Trevor & Oanh; and her six grandchildren,  Shikira, Joshua, Lania, Christian, Alexa, and Ciara
