Shirley Ann McCurry, 87 of Laguna Woods, passed on January 31, 2023. She died peacefully at home due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Shirley was born in Midway City CA. on January 3 ^rd , 1936, to James Coy Rogers and Alice Rachel Rogers. She had one brother Jimmy Rogers who has since passed. Shirley grew up on her father's Sugar Beet farm and from what I know had a very happy childhood with many friends. She went to elementary and middle school in midway city and went to Garden Grove High School where she met her first husband George Robert McClellan. They were married shortly after she graduated in 1954. In 1956 she had her first son Stephen Robert McClellan, then in 1958 she had her second son Jeffery Eugene McClellan. She was a housewife until 1965 when George passed after 11 years of marriage. From 1965 until 1968 she worked in a school cafeteria to make ends meet. In 1968 she married John Joseph McCurry and they remained married for 55 years until the time of her passing. After she was married to John, she went back to being a housewife. In 1988 she started buying and selling antiques. She continued that career for 30 years. Shirley along with her family lived in Garden Grove, two homes in Mission Viejo and moved to Laguna Woods Village in 1995 where she lived until her passing. She is survived by her husband John, her son Stephen, daughter in law Maria McClellan, Kingman AZ., daughter in law Colette McClellan Laguna Woods, Jeffery McClellan (deceased). Grandchildren Josh McClellan Mission Viejo, granddaughter in law Beth McClellan Mission Viejo. James McClellan (deceased), Gary Barnhart Mission Viejo, granddaughter in law Sonya Barnhart, Rachel McClellan Centerfield, UT., partner Sterling Peterson Centerfield UT. Great grandchildren Aria Barnhart Mission Viejo, Kiara Barnhart Mission Viejo, Rhett McClellan Centerfield UT., Parents, Grandparents, Brother, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends all deceased, in laws all deceased except Dr. Willie McCurry (ret.) of Glendale, AZ. and next-door neighbor Linda Agens. The pets Shirley loved until the end were a Black Lab named Cooper and a Chocolate Lab named Moose. She may have forgotten all the people in her life, but she never forgot those dogs. Arrangements are being made by McCormick and son, Laguna Woods. Shirley's services will be graveside at El Toro Cemetery Thursday February 23 ^rd at 1:30 PM. A Christian minister will officiate, and short comments will be said by Stephen McClellan, Colette McClellan, and Maria McClellan. Reception will follow at Josh and Beth McClellan's home at 26431 Avenida Deseo Mission Viejo, CA. 92691.
