Soleyman was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. His family immigrated to Iran when he was a child. At age 18, he became the youngest 10-meter diving champion of Iran's National Diving Team. At age 24, he earned Iran's National Wrestling Cup in Featherweight. As a young adult he found his other passion of being a prosperous businessman.
Soleyman Olyai was a pioneer. In order to pursue his dreams, in 1957, he migrated to West Germany, where he businesses strived.His love for wrestling remained a big focus.While working, he was also competing and ultimately became the wrestling coach for the region's wrestling team, leading them to their first championship.
In 1958, he married Edith Doris Keller, and together they had three children, Amineh, Samira, and Amin.
Soleyman Olyai was a visionary. In the early 70's, he established a successful auto-glass manufacturing company in Iran, which was exporting products to some Middle Eastern and Eastern European countries. In the mid 80', they took up residence in Washington D.C. and in 2005 settled in Florida to start their well-deserved retirement. In 2015, they relocated to North Carolina, to be closer to their son, Amin.
Soleyman Olyai was a true athlete with focus on diving, wrestling, skiing, or tennis.Even later in life, he participated in tournaments and competitions.
Throughout his life he has had a profound impact on all around him.Everyone knew him as a passionate, loving, and caring man.He has inspired and enlightened many minds. While we all accept his passing, we miss him tremendously.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edith Olyai, his three children, and five grandchildren, Sina, Kevin, Cyrus, Yasmin, and Alexander.
