Deverman, Stanley A., aka "Stan", 93, of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA passed away on June 20, 2018, after a brief illness.Stan was born to Effie Griffiths and Arthur Deverman on January 26, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, New York.
Stan Graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, Vermont and then attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh from 1948-1950.Between the years of 1950-1960 Stan was a freelance artist doing commercial drawings for such companies as Spear and Joseph Horn in Pittsburgh, as well as advertising art for the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph.In 1960 he returned to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to teach.He met his wife Jean of 57 years at a social dance in Pittsburgh and had 2 children, Linda and Bob.The family moved to southern California in 1981 when Stan went to work with a long-time friend.In southern California he did furniture, appliance and housewares advertising art for such companies as Bullocks, Dillards, Broadway and May Co.He was also adept at architectural renderings.
Stan loved the beach and to travel and he had a deep appreciation for nature that carried over to his paintings, many of which his family members are proud to display and enjoy.He was also an avid gardener and was often found outside tending his yard.He found musical enjoyment in the Big Band/Swing era.
Stan is survived by his daughter Linda, son Bob and his wife Valerie, niece Karen, her husband Dean and their children, Bobby, and Lauren (Lauren's husband Josh and daughter Riley), nephew Alan, his wife Carol and their son Patrick.
Stan was preceded in death by his wife Jean in 2009, and a niece Donna.
Viewing will be Thursday June 28th from 5-9 PM.Services will be Friday June 29th at 11:30 AM at McCormick & Son Mortuary with burial in Ascension Cemetery, Lake Forest, CA to follow.
