Stanley Marlin was born in the Bronx, New York, and spent the last 19 years of his life, happily residing in Southern California. He graduated from the High School of Music and Art at age 15, Pratt Institute for the Arts at age 18, and received a Masters Degree from Columbia University. He then began an illustrious career as art educator. Before retiring from the New York City School System after 35 years of teaching, Mr. Marlin was vice-principal of Talent Unlimited, a school for performing arts, under the auspices of Julia Richman High School in New York City. After retirement he continued to enrich local public schools in Orange County, Ca., with creative arts programs, funded by grants from such illustrious places as the Smithsonian Institution.
Stanley was an accomplished painter, caricaturist, and above all, a family man. At age 21 he married Eileen Wunsch and together they raised 3 children, Beth Ann, David Scott and Evan Noel. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren...Joseph Jared and Hannah Mae Marlin, Rachael Rylee and Rebekah Bari Lichter, and Ciara Eileen and Ian James Marlin.
Stanley Marlin loved cars, Medieval architecture (especially flying buttresses), Impressionist painters, his dog, Elmer and Life in general. His genuine interest in everyone he met, frequently led to an impromptu caricature, of the most delightful sort. The dining room of his last residence, The Wellington, in Laguna Hills, Ca., was where he held court, saying good morning to everyone, with a smile upon his face and a kind word. His favorite meal of the week was Sunday brunch and the omelette station.
So many condolences are streaming in. He was well-loved.
Stanley is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Eileen, all 3 of his children, his six grandchildren and his sister, Lyda Frielich who lives in Florida with her husband, Robert.
