It is with great sadness to announce that on Sunday, September 25, 2022, Steve Savas a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend passed away. Born on July 23rd, 1925 Steve was 97 years old.
Born to Paul and Maria Savas, Steve was raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Steve joined the Army in 1943 and fought in the World War II Asia Pacific Theatre. Steve earned several medals during his time in the Army and was very proud of his service to his country. After the war ended, Steve worked in Alaska for the Civil Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller and then as a Radio Officer on a troop transport ship in the Korean war. After the Korea war ended, Steve went on to enjoy a 40 year career in Electronics Engineering for the McDonnell Douglas, Collins Radio/Rockwell and Harris Corporation before retiring in 1989.
Steve loved to be around family and friends, working in his garden, investing in the stock market and following professional and college sports, especially Ohio State football.
Steve is survived by his wife Joyce, children Jonathan, Caroline and Terence and grandchildren Jaqueline, Kristin, Rachel and Jonathan.
A service will be held Saturday, October 15th at 1:00pm at McCormick & Son Mortuary, 25002 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92637. A reception will follow at his son's Jonathan's house at 45 Chapital, San Clemente, CA 92672, (949) 439-5068
