Stuart L. Grant, 89, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on September 22, 2026. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of family, friendship, service, professional accomplishment, and an unwavering belief in the power of a positive attitude.

Born on August 4, 1937, in Salem, Oregon, to Leonard and Hazel, Stuart grew up in the Pacific Northwest. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for his undergraduate education and later earned his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law, beginning a distinguished legal career that would span many decades.

Stuart proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Navy, including service in the Naval Reserve. His military career included time at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and he ultimately retired with the rank of Captain. His 17 years of service reflected the dedication, discipline, and determination he brought to everything he pursued.

Following his military service, Stuart established his legal career in Orange County, California, where he served as a Deputy District Attorney with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office in Santa Ana. Throughout his 50 year law career, he was known for his intelligence, hard work, and enduring commitment to the legal profession.

Stuart married Deborah Grant in Laguna Beach, California. Stuart and Deborah shared 45 years of marriage and built a life in Southern California. They raised five children: Kevin, Stephen, Bryan, Laura, and Christine. Their family later grew to include four grandchildren: Kaia, Walker, Lincoln, and Maverick. Despite the demands of his career, Stuart’s family was always central to his life. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends deeply and took tremendous pride in the people they became.

One of Stuart’s most cherished beliefs was simple: “Family is forever.” Those words, displayed in his family home, captured what mattered most to him. Family was a lifelong bond, a source of strength, and a love that endured through every chapter of life. He believed in being there for one another, celebrating each other’s successes, and standing together through life’s challenges.

While Stuart accomplished much throughout his life, those who knew him will remember something beyond his professional achievements: his extraordinary positivity and belief in the potential of others.

Stuart believed life was full of opportunity. He approached challenges with optimism and determination, believing that meaningful goals could be accomplished through hard work, the right attitude, and a willingness to keep moving forward. He encouraged those around him to believe in themselves, take responsibility for their choices, make their own decisions, and never stop striving to become better. This outlook was more than something Stuart talked about, it was how he lived.

He was a man of seemingly endless energy who loved to swim, play tennis, stay active, and enjoy life. Rarely one to sit still, he was always finding something to do, someone to spend time with, or another experience to embrace. He loved sharing stories, laughing with friends, and bringing people together. His positive spirit, warmth, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

Stuart’s 89 years were filled with accomplishment, adventure, friendship, and love.

Stuart leaves behind the family he loved so deeply. A devoted husband and proud father, he will be remembered by his children for the example he set: to meet life with optimism, pursue their goals, care for others, and believe in the possibilities ahead.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered by all whose lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the family he built will live on through the generations that follow.
