Suzanne Schmidt was born February 25, 1932 and died after a long illness on October 15, 2013. She leaves behind her children Corrine Lotz, Cathy Wood, Pat Schmidt, Sandy Chisam and Nadine Silveira. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jennifer Mitchell, Darren Wood, Jeff Wood, Natalie Schmidt, Amanda Chisam, Melissa Chisam and her great grandchildren Garrett and Kaitlyn Mitchell.

"Suzi" as she was known by her friends and family was a loving and devoted mother. To say her kids were her life is not a cliché. No family event was too small for our mom, she lived for get-togethers with her family. No sooner was one holiday past that she would begin to inquire about the plans for the next one. Mom was an industrious woman who knew the value of a dollar. She did not work outside the home as her children were growing up, but always found creative ways of contributing to the household income. She babysat, took in ironing and managed paper delivery routes for a local newspaper, all while caring for a husband and five children.

One of the highlights of my mom's life were her beloved trips to Las Vegas. Mom loved to gamble which stood in stark contrast to her frugality. Like all of us, she was convinced she was destined to win the "big one."

She also loved to cook and watch Spanish novellas on television. Mom spoke multiple languages, English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Italian. Regretfully, we only learned one. She was truly an amazing woman.

We will miss her laughter, her hugs, her funny sense of humor, but we know that this is not goodbye. We will see our loving mother in heaven one day.
