Theresa Martinez was born in Whittier, California in 1935.
Her Family moved to Merced when she was young and lived on a Farm.
She always told stories of when the traveling families would stop by the Farm and ask for Food. Her Dad would let them pick produce and sleep in the Chicken Coop.
She would talk about playing King of the Mountain with her brother and losing a shoe atop the Fertilizer Pile and knowing that they would get in trouble.
They would soon relocate to Tustin California in her early teen years where she lived right down the street from Tustin High School. She wouldn't attend Tustin High School, she would go to Mater Dei and letter in Field Hockey.Imagine Mom with a Stick in Her hand in the 50's playing Field Hockey. That was always in inspiration. She would love being an Alumni of Mater Dei until the day she died. Even going to the reunion that took place last month. She loved being a Monarch.
Our Mom would soon meet her future husband in the summer of 1956. She called the barracks at El Toro Marine Base to buy a car and low and behold our Dad answered the phone. Our Grandma called him Molasses as he would never go away. They would marry the following February 23, 1957.
Soon after being married, they would buy a home on a blue print and move to El Toro.
Our Mom was the Baseball Mom, Bobby Sox Coach, involved with Girl Scouts, Soccer Mom, Gymnastic Mom and Biker Mom.
She would be there at all that we were doing.Motorcycle Races, Softball Games, Soccer Games, Baseball Games, dropping us off at the beach with our Surfboards and making cupcakes for all our class parties. You name it she was there for all of us.
Our Mom was a big part of the Elk's Ladies and the Y's Mens Club in the Saddleback Valley.
She will be remembered as being a Loving Mom to all that came in contact with her.Never a moment went by that the neighborhood kids would go without.
Our Mom would pass away in the place that she cherished the most in her home.
