Thomas Samuel Jordan, a cherished leader, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Irvine, California. Born on March 28, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, Tom's remarkable journey through life left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Tom's dedication to education spanned more than 38 years, culminating in his last position as President of Coconino Community College in Flagstaff, Arizona, a role he held with distinction for seven and a half years. His commitment to fostering knowledge and growth in countless students was a testament to his passion and vision.
A proud scholar, Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He furthered his education with a Master of Education and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. His academic achievements mirrored his drive and intellectual acumen, qualities that defined his career and leadership style.
Tom's service extended beyond academia. He served honorably as a 1st Lieutenant in Military Intelligence Reserve, demonstrating his dedication to his country and his unwavering sense of responsibility.
Known for his kindness, determination, ambition, intelligence, and humor, Tom was a great leader and an even greater man. Those privileged to know him remember a man who inspired with his warmth and strength, a devoted family man whose greatest pride lay in his loved ones.
Tom's passions included jogging, weightlifting, camping, and painting, activities that revealed his zest for life and appreciation for both physical and creative pursuits. These hobbies were part of the rich tapestry of his life, reflecting the balance he sought between work, family, and personal joy.
His wife, Laureen Jordan, was his steadfast companion, sharing in many memorable travels. Together, they explored beautiful destinations including the Florida Panhandle, Hawaii, Bar Harbor Maine, Austin, Texas, and enjoyed several cruises—journeys that created lasting memories and deepened their bond.
Tom's legacy lives on through his beloved family: his daughters Nicole Roth and Jessica Jordan; Nicole’s husband Phil, their daughter Aubrey, and son Grahm; Jessica’s son Jayvyn; and his devoted siblings Karlyne Parrish of Massillon, Ohio; Michele Ruiz and her husband Joe of Cary, North Carolina; Darryl Jordan and his wife Jane of Austin, Texas; and Dave Jordan of Middleburg Heights, Ohio. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Jordan, and mother, Virginia (Berezowsky) Jordan.
Tom’s proudest accomplishments were his wife, his daughters, and his grandchildren, who were the center of his world and the source of his greatest joy. His legacy is one of love, dedication, and leadership—a man whose spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate to share in his life.
Memorial services to honor Tom’s life will be held on April 10, 2026, beginning with a viewing at McCormick & Son Mortuaries, 25002 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, California, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at the same location until 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will continue at El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, California, starting at 1:30 p.m.
Thomas Samuel Jordan’s kind heart, sharp mind, and loving nature will forever remain in the memories of all who knew him. His story is one of dedication—to family, to education, and to the values he held dear. He will be deeply missed and eternally remembered.
